3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2003 This is a decent beer.
When I first took the plunge into the
world of "real" beer, Newcastle's
sweet flavors and hitherto untasted complexity
proved the perfect bridge for my Budweiser-conditioned
palate. From the tap, you get
a plesantly malty, yet dry-enough brew,
with warm, buttery notes.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 8/17/02 Draught: Same as the bottle yet not as good and too sweet and not so nutty...drinkable when there's nothing better though..not that that means anything to anyone...but if your gonna drink newcastle..drink it out of a bottle!
Re-Rate 8/26/02 draught: For some reason I found it to be better than the bottle this time, with a way more pronounced nuttiness..Who knows..I'll just say yeaH! whatever

3.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
There was almost no aroma from this brew, which surprised me, it was very drinkable with no aftertaste and there was tons of head and carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Good stuff. Not quite as malty as i expected from a brown ale, but just the right amount of hops. Great for drinking in large quantities.

Light pasteurized and malty/nutty. Quick finish.

Pretty decent. About the purest brown color Iíve ever seen in a beer. Malty aroma. Pleasant hint of bitterness but not especially flavorful.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
While not skunked, I was suspicious that the dusty aromas and flavors(coming through over the light malts) were products of the clear bottle. I enjoyed this years ago when I was not yet a snobbish beer drinker, but now it is thin, lacks complexity, and lacks interest.

The beer has really simple flavors and is sooo smooth. I think itís a really great beer to just relax and drink.

My previous rating was retarded. I keep the same rating, but change the comments because if I ever win something, they could use it against me... again, decent brown ale with nice nutty flavor, good malt, hop balance and slightly floral aroma. not bad.
