fata2683 (840), Panama City, Florida, USA Sep 12, 2008 Pours light brown, very little head that is gone by the time you throw the bottle away. Even though I always get a headache with this beer it’s not that bad. Slightly sweet and bitter. Much better on tap, I’m sure the clear bottle doesn’t help it. donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 11, 2008 Pours transparent brown, little head diminishing fully. Vinous/citrus sour aromas and some berry fruitiness. Flavour is initially bitter goes to a sour acetic flavour, ending cleanly. Cabeero (15), Thornton, Colorado, USA Sep 10, 2008 An interesting dusty attic smell. A sweet, malty flavor with a subtle hop character and a lingering dusty finish. Dark brown. Medium head. It’s alight.
noncaloric (602), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 9, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009Summary: Brown ale doing an excellent impression of sweet ice tea.
Aroma: Intense honey and flowers.
Appearance: Deep brown liquid, mahogany highlights, thin head, minimal lace.
Flavor: Starts off sweet and floral, honey, geraniums, lemon; then becomes tannic with tea flavors. Finishes bitter, dry, and a little stale.
Palate: Peppery, the sweetness gets a little cloying. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 8, 2008 Poured from 12oz bottle brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet malts and a bit of resin hops. Flavor starts out a sweet malt then turns to a lite hop bitter and finishes with a caramel flavor. Bart (1625), Vosselaar, Belgium Sep 8, 2008 Brown coloured beer with some light carbonation and an average brown head. Sweet roasted caramel aroma. Medium sweet palate. Finish is light bitter roasted and malty with a longer and sweeter ending. Rather medium this one. bsm80 (144), Massapequa, New York, USA Sep 6, 2008 Nice brown ale, nutty, malty aroma and flavor, hints of caramel are there, definitely enjoyed more in a pint glass, slightly grainy, bitter yet sweet finish, cheers! tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Sep 1, 2008 In a can, at my hotel in Orlando. (The can is a big improvement over the clear bottle it often comes in). Decent brown ale. The appearance is a reddish brown, weak white head. The aroma is caramel malty, and nutty. The flavor is surprisingly a little weak; definitely malts, caramel sweetness and nutty flavors, just not as strong as expected. The finish is sweet, but gives way to a small amount of bitterness towards the end. Good overall, not bad for a brown ale.
