Small, short lived head, nice brownish color, minimal nose, light on the tongue, very light but balanced flavors. I would enjoy it on a hot day, but not today.

I have to wonder whether damage caused by the clear bottle has pulled down the overall rankings for this one. On tap, this is reliably satisfying, but I have had more than one bottle of this that could only be described as foul, and quite a few more that were just "off" and ended up going down the drain. This rating is for the draught version only.

Bottle. Light Brown/red color, Great caramel notes, kind of sweet & malty, and goes down very easy. One of the best macro-imports.

Bottle. Reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma was fruity with some malty notes. The taste is both earthy and nutty. Mild caramel flavors. The balance is good, not too sweet yet good malt flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

Ah, Newcastle. I call this the cream soda of beers. Pours brownish-red with minimal tan head. Malty and subtly fruity nose. Curious earthy yeast. First taste introduces mild caramel sweetness to the palate. Nuttiness in the background. Smooth and easy to drink. There is some complexity in this brew, but on the downside it is a bit thin.

It smells glorious, it looks glorious, it tastes glorious and I can’t believe that it doesn’t have a higher rating than it does.

Poured from pint bottle a clear medium brown with a decent off-white head that faded rather quickly. Aroma is malty with a faint nuttiness. Flavor is very malty with a caramel sweetness and lightly nutty taste. Carbonation is high making the beer taste crisp, mildly sweet and very little bitterness. Overall, an OK tasting beer that is easy to drink, but has a rather thin syrupy quality to it.

Nutty flavor. Taste toffee and hops. Light bodied. A little low on the alcohol content as far as I’m concerned. Good ale.
