This beer gets a boost in my rating for being really the only beer that I truly like that I can find pretty much anywhere in New England. It certainly is my quintessential "beer run" brew when I haven’t planned ahead. Smooth and sweet.

Pours with a medium sized, rocky, off-white head covering a clear, medium brown body. Some scragley lacing left by the head. Aroma has some skunk for sure (clear bottle syndrome) covering up some undememo malts and brown sugar. Taste is malty and smooth with a bit of soured milk towards the end (again, probably thanks to the lightstruck bottle). Water like mouthfeel with a moderate level of carbonation, finishing slightly metallic.

This is an amazing brown ale, how people think this beer is overrated is just beyond me, it’s so nutty and smooth, but then again it is an ale. But if you’ve never had, I suggest you try! My overall Favorite, I’ve had great beers, but none that can match the overall qualities of this one!

I really don’t know how people get so infatuated with this beer. The classic brown ale flavor is there, but it’s overwhelmed by skunkiness. The aroma and taste are both so skunked that the beer just isn’t very enjoyable. I suppose it’s due to the sunlight the clear bottle catches, which is a shame because this could be a really good beer. I’ve had it from the tap before and I remember enjoying it far better, but for this review I had a clear bottle and I just can’t get over the skunkitude enough to enjoy it.

Pours brown with a thick tan head. Smooth and refreshing. Kind of like a lighter guinness. Not bad by any means. Just kind of overpriced.

...bottle and tap. Never disappointing, always reliable, and of course better on tap. Goes down smooth, not too strong, great malt flavors, and a very smooth finish. Not overly hopped, or overdone in any way. Just a well balanced brew, never fails.

I like Newcastle. Yes the hops are week and it’s thin but the malt is good, if a touch too sweet. It goes down nice and easy. It’s best consumed while standing in front of my barbeque loaded with ribs.

Medium carbonation light beer tasting. Not any hops flavor and tasted like sugar water. Wont drink again.
