rcasta (470), El Salvador May 20, 2008 me encanta esta birria
esta la probe en londres cuando fui a estudiar y todos los dias despues de clases nos echabamos las birrias y pasamos un buen rato que vale la pena super bien greenmanalishi (294), Leicestershire, England May 19, 2008 ’the one and only’ newcy brown (to us further south atleast). took me over 140 ratings to get to this most obvious of british beers, but not much to write home about after that. some yeasty hints. otherwise watery, thin and bland. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 18, 2008 Dark amber with good, foamy brown head / Yeasty, sweet malt nose / Light body, high carbonation, with faint finish / Simple coca cola-caramel flavors / Mediocre. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 16, 2008 Clear ruby brown with moderate head that collapses quickly. Caramel and roast malt aromas with a hint of english hops. Carmelized malt sweetness and some roast malt flavors with very low hop flavor or bitterness.Nice standard english style brown ale. tagz (334), USA May 15, 2008 bottle. pours orange brown with thin white head. not much in the aroma department. but offers some good flavors once you dig in. nice malt backbone, sweet caramel, mild bitter hop to finish. pretty tasty for a big brand and while the palate is somewhat thin, the light carbonation helps maintain the creamy mouthfeel. would be a good transition beer for non-micro drinkers. also excellent when studying for aptitude tests. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA May 15, 2008 Updated: Sep 1, 2008 Mild & watery. Not top notch.. but ok. Nutty and malty, carbonation is low. Very low key. Bland brownie. Not bad, just bland. 9/08 Just had my first skunked newcastle bottle. I also just saw cans of newcastle for the first time in my state(S.Carolina). I’ll try these for another glimpse of this macro beer. Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA May 14, 2008 Newcastle Brown in a bottle was my ’gateway’ beer. After drinking several of these on several occasions, my eyes were opened as well as my tastebuds and I’ve never looked back.
Smooth and low carbonated, this brown allows you to drink it far too easily and it’s quite sessionable.
Are there better browns, no doubt, but thanks to Heineken’s distribution, I can thank Newcastle for my love of beer! gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England May 14, 2008 Updated: Feb 25, 2009This is an odd beer for me as I used to like it when I first tried beer, disliked it for a bit after I got into ’good’ beer, and have since re-tried it now I kind of like it again.
Pour is decent dark brown, very malty aroma, some yeast. Taste is pretty sweet, very much like liquid bread, plenty of malt, some yeast. Decent enough for a beer produced by the millions of gallons.
