I had this beer on tap (and the rating reflects this). It is good...nothing spectacular. It has a malty, nutty flavor and is real smooth. It has light-medium body with medium carbonation. The first time I ever had this was out of the bottle. Why Newcastle do you insist on using clear glass? It was skunked...badly. Newcastle, you are lucky that I gave your beer another shot, but I chose the tap instead. I will never buy this beer in a bottle.....ever.

bottle, part of a gift-set. watery.. boring.. but not bad. just sort of a non-event. brown probably refers to the color, cause not much taste.

Once you get past the skunk off of the clear bottle, some decent qualities peak through. Nutty, toasty, malty. Beautiful deep amber color with ample almond head. A solid brown, just make sure to store it properly.

Late night six pack. Good beer, smooth malts, hops, and hint of nuts. Pours a dark amber with a creamy and nutty lightly tan head.

12 oz bottle drank in Vegas a year or so ago. Not great but ok for a brown ale. I liked the low alcohol and the smooth drinking.

Can’t believe I missed this one, had it several times. Crystal clear reddish brown beer with amber highlights. It pours with a thin, off white head that fades quickly. The aroma has a sweet caramel smell with a hint of nuttiness. The flavor is very mild, with grassy notes and a touch of sweetness on the finish. The aftertaste is a bit bitter and metallic. The mouthfeel is coarse, with the carbonation dominating the palate.

Draught at Old Tom, Kouvola. Mahagony color with small head. Mild aroma with caramel and chocolate. The flavor is also mild with caramel, chocolate, wood and hint of resiny english hops. Fairly low bitterness, hint of sweetness in the finish.
