Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, by Jim Porter after three years of development. Production moved from Newcastle to Gateshead at the end of 2004 and to Tadcaster on closure of the Dunston brewery in 2010.

I was really expecting big things from this beer, but it fell way short. I’ve have a similar import years ago and it was excellent. Did they give up something to mass produce it for Americans. Please bottle it in a colored bottle. I’ve run into a skunk a number of times.

Pours lovely brown and with minimal head. Caramel notes shine through the malty backbone. It has a light to medium body and is of thin texture. Its an easy drinking mass produced beer. ok.

Clear brown color, little off-white head. The nose is of slightly roasted malts, some brown bread. A bit of lemon and cut grass. The palate is watery, with some lightly roasted coffee and slight hints of citrus. The palate is light, watery, not too complex. Overall, reasonable, but nothing exciting.

Somewhat thin and lacking in body, but still has a somewhat sweet taste that isn’t bad. Aroma of caramel and slight nuts. Often one of the better options in places with limited selections, though not very good when it comes to brown ales or beer in general.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a beer/ale in a plain glass bottle and was surprised about that. Didn’t really need to wait for the pour to see the nice amber color, but during the pour, the head was very minimal. It has a very pleasant aroma. It is kind of sweet but cannot really put my finger on the sweet taste. All in all, not a bad ale

0.33 bottle. Average aroma of malts and caramel not very distinctive. A brownish, slightly amber-colored liquid, definitely clear and finished with a fair head of mediocre retention. Taste is sweet with a delicate tone of bitterness, way to soft. The beer has a light body, thin texture and is averagely carbonated. Finish can be best described as medium-long and understated. Fairly good for a broadly advertized brew but cannot match many of the non-commercialized brands.

For a well commercialized beer, I like the complexity of flavor. Slightly fruity arrival with the toasted finish.

Appearance: clear ruddy brown, soft frothy off-white head, lingering lace curtains. Aroma: caramel, toffee, toasted nuts, hint of minerals. Taste: sweet, nutty, malty. Finish: short and sweet. Notes: Extraordinarily mediocre. A little too sweet, a little too light, a little too watery to be good. Certainly not the worst beer out there. Surprisingly better the colder it is.
