ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Jan 7, 2008 Updated: Mar 3, 2009A how-come-I-didn’t-rate-this-before rating. Ruby brown with a lasting off-white head. Caramel and diacetyl and a little fruit and grain in an industrial-clean aroma. Malt-dominated medium sweet flavour. Inoffensive and highly drinkable - but not bad at all. elmo909 (12), fontana, California, USA Jan 5, 2008 the beer is nice and the aroma is ok but the palate is unbeleaveable who makes this stuff very nice appearance is buyable i give the makers two thumbs up for makeing this beer boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 3, 2008 Bottle... Poured deep burgandy with a small head that diminished quickly to nothing. Malt aroma with a
slight wine presence. The malt flavor was a little skunky, but the wine-like flavors and hops subdued it out. I’ve had it on tap before and the wine flavors were more excentuated and it was smoother to drink. perfektion (5), USA does not count Jan 1, 2008 I think this ale is somewhat underrated. The aroma and appearance are a bit bland, but it has a remarkably smooth flavor and finish. Probably my favorite ale. tanis38 (6), Miami, Florida, USA does not count Dec 31, 2007 Newcastle is my current favorite all-around ale. I always try to have some in my fridge. Very refreshing and not bitter at all. Very smooth. Interestingly, this is one of the few beers I actually enjoy drinking out of the bottle instead of pouring it into a glass. Not sure why. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 29, 2007 Poured from a bottle. Poured a brown color with a slight beige head. Malty, nutty aroma. Malty flavor with slight chocolate and caramel undertones and a nutty finish. Sort of thin on the palate. Not bad, but not nearly as good as I thought it was when I was in high school. a10555 (123), West Chester, Ohio, USA Dec 29, 2007 Well, let’s see. nice color, but no head to speak of. Taste is slightly better than most of the American Domestics, but only slightly.
Although if it were offered on a golf course over the others, this would be my choice. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 28, 2007 Pours an amber-brown with a scant head. Lightly hoppy aroma. Taste is thin and chalky, light chocolate malt with a pleasing toasted almond finish. Thin body, slightly creamy with ok carb. Drinkable, nutty finish slightly redeeming, but otherwise dull and lacking.
