Just a great English ale all around. Its very refreshing even though it has quite a bit of flavor. Caramel/molasses flavor. Give it a try!

On tap at Hoolihans in Eatontown. Dark brown pour. Aroma of malt some nut and a touch of hops. Flavor was very similiar however I thought I would get some more spice and nuttyness out of it. Some what of a let down not what I thought it was going to be or atleast from what I remembered from years ago.

This is definetly somewhere near the top of my top 10. Drink it cold, smooth and refreshing, it tricks you though with that 4.7%, I had times where after few pints i would get real pissed. But empty stomach factor plays a big role here as well.

Dollar you call it at The Airliner (Iowa City, IA). These were the brews I went with. A 12 oz pour into a conical pint. Pours bourbon brown. Small brown tinged head that dissipates. A nice brew. One of these was skunky, as I’m sure it sat at the back of the fridge for too long. Small on aroma, but flavor was pretty good. Nice caramel and nut flavors with some unexpected hoppiness. A decent brew. I wonder how much better it would fare in brown bottles.

18.6 oz bottle. Poured the nice nutty brown color you see through the bottle with a decent off white head. Aroma was slightly malty but mainly hops--grassy. Taste is more malty--smooth and bittersweet. A good balanced flavor. Finish is smooth. Easy to drink in large quantities and better tasting than macro brews. It’s not very sophisticated though.

When i think of what a good striaght up beer should taste like I think of Newcastle. Nice brew indeed. Has that good "this is what beer tastes like" flavor to it.

Bottle. This used to be my favorite beer, but as I’ve aged and had more beer, it’s become bland and boring. The choice of bottle color is a surprise, as I’ve had some pretty skunky ones. Other pretty color, theres not much here. Rating on nostalgia alone...

33cl bottle. metallic aroma with a bit of grassy hops. no head, very few bubbles. beautiful reddish brown color. the flavour is dominated by mild bitterness with slight malt sweetness and hop flavour. too watery for my palate. overall nice and easygoing, could drink a lot of this in a pub
