exadore (92), Sacramento, California, USA Dec 6, 2007 Bottle. This used to be my favorite beer, but as I’ve aged and had more beer, it’s become bland and boring. The choice of bottle color is a surprise, as I’ve had some pretty skunky ones. Other pretty color, theres not much here. Rating on nostalgia alone... ohad (16), Israel Dec 6, 2007 33cl bottle. metallic aroma with a bit of grassy hops. no head, very few bubbles. beautiful reddish brown color.
the flavour is dominated by mild bitterness with slight malt sweetness and hop flavour.
too watery for my palate.
overall nice and easygoing, could drink a lot of this in a pub graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 4, 2007 Pours a puke brown into the glass with no head. Aroma is stale and taste is much the same with some sugar to balance out the blandness. Bleh. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 4, 2007 Updated: Apr 1, 2009Canned version. Small caramel on the nose, some earth. So hard to refrain from gulping down! Light sessionable malts, some hazelnut and faintly balanced with earthy hops in the finish. very clean. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark Dec 1, 2007 [Sampled in 2003.] This was one of the first beers that I gave a 5.0 score in the early days. Now I dislike this diacetyl flavor and swallow it only when handed free from the neighbor. heavy (815), Split, Croatia Nov 30, 2007 0.33 l bottle. Poured brownish amber body with tiny brown head. Hoppy aroma with citrus and grass, some malts too, but not dominating as I’ve expected to be, at contrary just like in some pale lager. Flavor is slightly bitter, with hints of caramel, but otherwise nothing much in there, quite light bodied. Finish is short and slightly bitterish. Quite carbonated for nothing. Strange, this is my first brown ale, so I’ve expected at least something like Irish ale, well, there are some parallels although this is more boring and had much more feeling I’m actually drinking colored pale lager. JDUB (170), Beautiful Venice Beach, California, USA Nov 29, 2007 Pours a reddish brown, clear, with a slightly off white head that’s fairly short lived. Aroma has sweetness of caramel and a dirt sort of blandness. The flavor, is, well, not very pronounced in any meaningful way. I give this beer a low rating, not for being bad, but for not making a statement; it has very little nose or mouth presence. I don’t think it’s the alcoholic in me when I say this needs a more pronounced alcohol component; at 4-5%, it’s fairly unassuming. Perhaps the low abv, comparable to major brands like Bud, enables this beer to have broader distribution privileges? - I don’t know the laws but there’s got to be some rationale for making it so watered down. arondee (176), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 29, 2007 Not a strong beer. Very little head. Kind of a Caramel taste and appearance with a bit of honey at the finish. Easy to drink 5 or 6 of them in a row without a thought. Good overall beer, I find myself buying this every time it goes on sale. Nothing really special about the taste I would rave about but it’s a good overall beer.
