MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Aug 17, 2009 A nice amber colour and equally nice taste with the malt quite evident. Not too much carbonation and thus the head was a bit flat. The label on mine says "brewed by the Newcastle Breweries, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England". DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 16, 2009 Light sweet and fruity with an edge of roast malt, nutty and a little citrus, gentle hopping for a touch of balancing bitterness. playitbybeer (48), San Diego, California, USA Aug 15, 2009 Updated: Aug 16, 2009On draft at dave & busters, good thing no one comes here for the beer as this was the best choice. Dark nutty brown with weak unattractive head. Smells nutty, floral, and subtle dry fruits dipped in syrup. Hefty very wet mouthfeel. Nutty taste with prevalent alcohol...I wish that I ordered a san pellegrino instead. Frovigalning (388), , Sweden Aug 15, 2009 It poured a dark clear golden copper liquid with a small foam that left some lacing. IT had a smell of caramell and malt. It had a taste of caramell, malt, some sweetness and a hint of something burned. Decent but a bit boring. Decent but a bit boring. 13mikey (117), New Hope, Minnesota, USA Aug 14, 2009 Pours deep brownish red color, little to no aroma. Very small flavor, a slight malt note and a bit sweet. Overall not a very flavorful beer. Odyn (205), New York, USA Aug 12, 2009 Sort of sweet yet drinkable and light. Had this on draft with dinner and it was really good, though didn’t pair as well with the entree (pasta) as it did with the heartier appetizer. Fairly mild in flavor, with a clean finish. Better than I remember. grebs (69), Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2009 This beer is not good out of a bottle. It tastes sugary, overly malty, and has a distinct flavor of dirt. On top it is marginally better but by no means great. It really lacks the character and balance you would hop for from a brown ale, but it is a mass produced beer so you can hardly expect perfection. Very thin, too roasted, and way too carbonated. Pass. Herkybird (20), YORK, North Yorkshire, England Aug 9, 2009 Sickenly sweet flavour with masses of caramel malt but almost no hop flavours. Very unpleasant metallic aftertaste from bottle due to excessive carbonation - the gassist beer I have ever tried. Suits the Scottish and North East palate for obnoxiously sweet, malty beers perfectly, but not to my taste at all.
