One of the best brown ales out there. Caramel malt aroma. Pours dark amber/light brown with small white head. Taste is caramel malt with extremely smooth finish. Draft is best. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank from a bottle. Not that special. The taste is a bit bland. The colour is nice brown.

I never really cared too much for Newcastle. Now that Iíve been drinking brown ales lately to compare, I have to downgrade this brew somewhat. Although it is drinkable, it just doesnít do much for me. Perhaps I donít care for Scottish Brown Ales versus American Brown or Indian Brown, etc. The balance between bitter and sweet just isnít there, as it seems a bit overly bitter....but I think that is just the style, as Oskar Blues Old Chub seemed the same, but a bit better overall. Iíve also noticed that metallic aftertaste. There are better ones out there for the price.

Straight from the bottle. Clear amber/brown color with an off white head. Sweet malt and very slight bitterness aroma. Bittersweet malt, caramel and faint hop flavors. Iíll give it one thing, itís very easy to drink unlike some other shitty brews like Bud, Miller or Coors (not to mention all the other crap Mex beers).

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a strong malt flavor but smelled stale Appearance- pours an amber brown with a tan head. Taste- Heavy malt flavor with some caramel but it tastes old Palate- Medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Overall- a truly average beer, pretty forgettable.

Pours deep, dark amber. A little bit roast and chocolate, a kind of a sweetish bitterness, so neither taste dominates over another too much. Easy and smooth to drink, even if itís not exactly exciting.
