Perhaps at the mercy of mass distribution or pub beer lines, this beer has at turns been to me unpleasantly sweet, bland and insipid, vile and noxious, and, rarely, a pleasant, nutty experience. Taken as a whole, my experience of NBA is a poor one, hence my ratings.

Cloying, annoying, brown but fit for destroying. Idiot lager louts give this beer its only bouying.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
This is a beer not enjoyed cold. The caramel flavor picks up as it warms. Slighty yeasty flavor, small nuts, brown in color with minimal head. Nothing I will search out again.

This is another "lost it's way" beer. The "10 years ago, this was cutting-edge" saying that I use in so many situations, non-beer as well. It does pour nice, with an above average appearance. Although the smell was not "skunky", I sensed a bit of medicinal quality to its' aroma. The taste, despite the color is light-bodied, a bit o' salt on the bottom of the tongue and sweet through the middle. Long gone, is that nice refreshing tang- it onced possessed, enter the sugary finish! Recently we had these at a night-club, when not much else was available. I hate hangovers, and mostly avoid them. It just seems impossible with this beer, no matter how responsible I am. To be more detailed about this beer, I can more easily say what it's not anymore. Gone is the roasty, medium-body, pinch of hop bitter finish this once was. I hope this brew is proud of it's self. You've made it! Your big-time! Now I'm subject to statements like "Dude, Newcastle."

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a thick white head with a brown body. Aroma is actually hard to pick up. Light hops, but that is all I am getting here. Taste is watery and slightly malty. I am not getting a whole lot from this beer in general. Not bad tasting, but lacking in taste. Drinkable.

This is more metallic and much thinner than I remember it being. The flavours are not that pronounced, nor that great. The famous nutty quality just gives a wierd off flavour.

2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Nice light brown body with a white head. Malthy/ bitter aroma. Taste is fruity but very weak, it´s like drinking a bad fruith syrup and water.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours into the glass with a very clear chestnut brown color...large frothy head that doesn’t last long before lacing over the top. Sweet nutty toasty malt aromas are very subdued with a faint but interesting twang of musty pine...very faint. Starts mild where the malt body seems almost diluted...hops are barely detectable but always sit in the background. The finish is quick and uneventful without the lingering malt after taste one expects from a brown ale. This is an OK session beer if you like a malty drink but it is a very mild and subdued brown ale....there are so many others with the big malt body you crave in this style.
