Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, by Jim Porter after three years of development. Production moved from Newcastle to Gateshead at the end of 2004 and to Tadcaster on closure of the Dunston brewery in 2010.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2009 Nutty flavor. Taste toffee and hops. Light bodied. A little low on the alcohol content as far as I’m concerned. Good ale.

Newcastle Brown Ale: ok- (Gal liked it better then I did) Bottle, 330ml. Pours clear, dark brown. Tall, dense and foamy, beige colored head. Mild aroma of malt and dry fruits with roasted notes. Mouth feel is watery with medium-gentle carbonation. Weak tanginess. Taste is bitter-forward, with a weak balancing background sweetness. Strong flavors of bitter hops and malt. Some noticeable bitter roasted notes, bitter-sweet caramel and burnt sugar. Also some fruits/dry fruits flavors and weak notes of coffee. Somewhat watery. Bitter aftertaste. Nicely bitter, strongly roasted, with a precise, very gentle background sweetness. Slightly flat and somewhat boring in terms of flavor, not much of flavor development. Easy to drink, and yet slightly heavy and warming, fits a colder weather. This is not a beer to drink slowly, but rather more of an everyday drink.

Browish clear amber with white head. Aroma is a little skunky. Light taste and feel. Not as good as I remembered from my first experience 7-8 years ago.

Pours a caramel brown color, clear with off-white head. Malts, and more malts on the nose; follows onto the palate. Average brown ale.

New to beer drinking, but i really like this one. Have tried better but like the availability of this for an afterwork at home kind of beer. Nice brown color. Mild sweetness. Good feel in the mouth not too thin.
