Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, by Jim Porter after three years of development. Production moved from Newcastle to Gateshead at the end of 2004 and to Tadcaster on closure of the Dunston brewery in 2010.

Newcastle pours a ruddy brown, quite clear, with a bit of creamy tan head. The nose is fairly malty, with notes of caramel and toast. There is a prominent cooked corn sweetness to the aroma, indicating dimethyl sulfide(DMS). Some consider this an integral part of the character of certain beers, but Id call it a flaw. The flavor is strongly corny, with a bit of malt in the background and prominent sweetness. There is just a hint of dark malt character coming off as a bit of roastiness. The palate is smooth and creamy, almost satiny.

Pours a dark brown Amber color with a very thick and frothy light brown head. Has a strong malty/hoppy taste, a bit strong and leaves a strong aftertaste. Beer is OK but not spectacular.

Bottled. Color of red brown, slight head. At first the fizz is visible, later it vanishes. Aroma is slightly felt, but reminds roasted bread. First sip is kind of sweet, the taste of bread is felt. Also, the more you drink, the more bitter the beer becomes. Palate feels on the roof of the mouth, also on a sides of a mouth.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2015 Bottle shared at home. I cant say I liked it. Pours dark amber light to medium body, small diminishing off-white head, caramel aromas, nuts, maybe toffee, not distinctive presence of hops, watery, slightly sweet, bitter finish. Not at all complex, nothing to reveal, indifferent and totally artificial. Neeeext!

A brown/red beer with very fast disappearing white head. The aroma is light, and sweet. The flavor has sweet hints of caramel, and malt. Light body but gets sticky in the mouth at the end.

Overpriced pint in an Irish pub in Nuremberg. No head. Caramel aroma.Thin body and caramel flavour. Holistic beer that doesnt score high in any criterion but overall is enjoyable.
