3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The appearance has a dark somewhat brown close to black colored body with a slight transparency to it. There is a nice mushroom capping one finger white foamy head that concaves to a lumpy looking valley inside the glass. Lacing is extremely thick and sticking to the sides of the glass
The smell is nutty, malty, woody, and bready all combined and leading into a dried roastiness.
The taste is malty sweet with a light woody nuttiness trying to come in. There is a roasty woody aftertaste with a dry sweet finish.
On the palate, it sits light on the body and comes across pretty sessionable. Carbonation is very smooth, hmmmm...I actually haven’t had too many English Dark Milds in my life, so I like the fact how it runs as smooth as it does and doesn’t leave much harshness.
Overall, hmmmm...not a bad beer, sounds like one I could definitely do with some fish n’ chips.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smell is sterile and fresh. From a bottle pour is a good looking dark beer. Friendly attitude without being too far over the top. Not really as mild as i would think a mild ale should be but it certainly has it finer points during the session. Goes down fairly easy. Has personality. Borders on crafty beer but still has some of that BMC proprietress in there. Yes refined enough to be smoother but tries to be more than that. Good co2 all around. Evolves into a pretty good overall beer experience.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
bottle. Black with small head. Charred malt with a bit of smoke. Mild flavor. Not a style that does anything for me at all.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
A- Cocoa, coffee, molasses, roasty.
A- Dark color, dark liquid, minimal tan head.
T- Cocoa, coffee, watery, slightly malty, roasty, smokey.
P- Medium body, thin texture, medium carbonation, dry finish.
O- A pretty substandard ale. Not a lot going on for this in terms of complexity. I was hoping for a full rich flavor profile of which was nonexistent. While it’s not completely revolting, it’s not savoring either. Pretty bland actually.

1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Not so good, not so good at all. Dark burnt caramel color, not much head. Nose was black malt, indistinct fruitiness, flavor much the same. Was very dry and acrid at first but better as the beer warmed and a sweetness came to the fore - but let’s not kid ourselves, this was not a pleasing malty sweetness, more of a sickly sweet note that only just covered the acrid.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Medium brown, medium off white head. Low aroma of cocoa and tea. Flavour is dry cocoa and caramel, insipid and watery. A lackluster, thin mild ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber body under a one finger tight bubbled off-white head. The nose is mostly toasty dry malt with light hints of chocolate and fruitiness. The flavor is fairly light as well, toasty malt, light chocolate malt, just a touch of chocolate, fairly dry. Light bodied and easy drinking with soft fizzy carbonation. Not the most exciting beer, but a nice Dark Mild.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Clear reddish brown ale with light tan head - quite striking translucent red / brown when held up to the light. Aroma of a little dark malt and faint hops. Taste is rather weak and watery, dominated by a mild dark malt taste. Not much to report, though. This palate carries on the watery theme. Nicely crafted and nothing offputting, but rather weak and bland.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: dark brown with lighter ruby highlights, and a short, creamy light tan head. Aroma: slightly roasty, with notes of coffee, plums, dark chocolate, and brown bread. Taste: chalk, dark chocolate, coffee, stale toast, raisin, balsamic vinegar. Finish: short, light, slightly sweet. Notes: Not bad, although I prefer Cain’s Dark Mild, which seems to be the same style.
