Pours like flat cola. Aroma is slightly unpleasant. Smells sour. Taste has a weird balance. Sour then bitter with a strange cola sweetness... I hate cola. Palate is thin and watery with a slightly bitter finish. Won’t buy again. Won’t drink again.

$2 Bottle. Tastes like figs and bad fruit, somewhat bitter and tart, not very drinkable. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like old fruit, grapes, light musk and malt.

Bottle. Pours brown with ruby highlights. Aroma is toasted malts, light chocolate, light coffee, fig, dates, and faint floral notes. Flavor is lightly roast malts, faint chocolate, light earthiness, stone fruit esters, and light hop bitterness; bland, funky finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

Picked this up when i couldn’t find newcastle brown. Nice dark color. Nice aroma kind of chocolate smelling. Taste has a subtle coffee taste to it. Overall i would drink again but wouldn’t choose over the brown

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The label lists the abv at 4.2% and there is a short description of the beer as well. Appearance: It has a dark reddish garnet colored body with a small just off white head on top. This head settles quickly leaving a thin film of lacing that just hangs on. Smell: It is light overall and has some odd earthy and leathery notes with some light toasted bready maltiness. Taste / Palate: It’s flavor matches the aroma perfectly and both the flavor and palate feels light, subtle and thin. Overall I like what’s here but I would just like a little more.

Draught into a growler. Pours a clear brown color with a small light tan head on there. Nose is a bit toasty with a darker caramel note - really quite malt forward. Taste is light and slightly sweet, with just a hint of toast to it. Very drinkable, but nothing remarkable.

chinchill (1811) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 2, 2014
12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. A: Poured dark reddish brown with a good size head that settles to a thin layer but leaves good lacing. S: Mild, with roasted grains, some caramel, and a hint of coffee. F: The flavor follows, but with some light hops at the finish. Pretty well balanced. M: Crisp yet smooth; dry finish; medium-thin body. O: A good looking brew, with good flavor for style and for a 4.2% ABV.

It’s a good looking beer, pouring a clear mahogany body with a creamy tan head. Lots of thick lace. The aroma is promising, chocolatey and nutty with a light earthiness. Trouble is, little of this comes across in the flavor, the beer being so watery. It does faithfully reflect the nose, but at so low a level as to disappoint. At least the bottle was brown.

The style tends to lean toward the lame end. This was surprisingly palatable. Faint aromas of earthy malt and licorice. Amber brown color with a good head. Medium weight to light palate. Malty flavors with roasted and chocolate character. A fruity sourness does make a brief appearance at the end. Would revisit.

Drought. Reddish brown with creamy beige head, vanilla-nuts aroma, low carbonation, fruity taste, thin body, abrupt finish. A bit weak but not bad.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head that leaves a bit of spotty lacing. Aroma is equal parts mildly fruity and mildly toasted malt. Taste is lightly toasted malt, a hint of chocolate, and soap. Quick finish of cocoa and toasty malt. Light body, thin and watery palate, light to average carbonation. Weak and disappointing. Possibly a good gateway beer though.
