2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 ianwelby (203) - - JAN 17, 2013Burnt toffee aroma for a clear, brown/amber beer. The flavour is also a sort of nutty, toffee-esque flavour. It’s decent enough to be drinkable but not enough that I’d go out of my way to have it again. It’s a bit on the watery side too.

Bottle. Dark copper beer with small head. Aroma of toffee and malts. The taste is the same toffee and malts. Hints of brown ale maybe. A little too carbonated. Not great.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 suprchunk (1393) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - MAY 11, 2013
Toffee colored pour. Big off-white head. Some lacing. Slight cabbage aroma hiding some malt notes. Taste is a little better, but there is a corn flavor. Sweet with a bitterness towards the end. Not the best beer out there.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 AleTsar (1337) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle from Morrisons [110513]
Caramel brown, clear, frothy bubbly whote head, some lacing
Aroma of caramel malt, some metallic copper coin, some minerals, not good
Taste as aroma, some caramel malt, some sweet cereal, vague hint of dark fruit, metallic minerals, dab of bitter English hop, rather poor flavour
Palate - Medium carb, thinnish body, bit oily. Finish as main flavour, quite dry, dab more fruit comes through, then some bitter lingering metal,
Overall - A considerably below average mediocre bitter - didn’t bother to finish the bottle

Bottle. Dark brown with a small head.Low carbonation with a malty medium body.Better than I had expected but what am I doing praising a beer brewed at John Smiths? Tastes like a mass produced beer than try to pretend its from a craft brewery. Which off course is what it is. Still the lads in accounts are probably happy with it.

355ml dark bottle from Morrisons. Stained oak colour beer. Initial moderate foam, then low carbonation. Some cardboard notes. Tastes like a vintage lager. Some bready oxidised malt. It’s OK. But I’m not getting what they aimed to do. An odd one.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 flying_pig (614) - SCOTLAND - MAR 12, 2013
Bottle from Morrisons (£1.50 for 355ml):
Malty with a strong, nutty aroma and some darker malts. There is a definite earthy smell along with some moderate bitter notes.
Brown with a thin, bubbly white lacing for a head that leaves a little lacing on the edges of the glass.
Sweet and dark malts along with some bitterness and quite a few earthy flavours. There is a little sugar and a touch of caramel too.
Light medium bodied with a smooth, sweet and slightly creamy beer that is quite bitter too.
Not bad although not quite a good one either. It was a nice bitter that went down quite well, better than I was expecting really. A pretty standard, run-of-the-mill offering that I would have again if pushed but it’s not one to seek out.
