COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg & bottle. Mainly for export to USA. Available in the UK at Tesco Supermarkets in 2012.
"The Hoppings" - reputedly the largest traveling fair in Europe, takes place on Newcastle Town Moor every June. Several origins has been suggested for the name. It may derive from the word "Hoppen" an Old English word for dancing or funfair. It has even been suggested that people "hopped" about itching due to fleas caught from animals that travelled with the fair. However, weíd like to think it may relate to the quality hops used in the brewing of our famous beer. Enjoy Newcastle Summer Ale at the fair or wherever you are this summer.

Aroma: citrus, bread. Appearance: amber with a minimal head. Taste: light and watery. Palate: light body with average carbonation. Unfortunately, not an enjoyable beer.

Pale yellow color with a foamy white head. Mild grainy aroma with a hint of hops. Slightly over hopped and bitter taste with high carbonation.

Doesnít smell the best, a bit of butter perhaps. Looks nice. This is pretty easy to drink, with a good flavor. Nothing aggressive here, but this beer is one that could certainly convince people to branch out a little more, as itís from newcastle and is quite respectable.

Bottle. Poured pale clear yellow with thin lasting head. Little lacing. Pleasant faint aroma, summer grass. Light body, light malt flavour, a bit of breadiness. Rather thin finish. This is not a bad ale, bur merely ordinary.

Had on draft at walnut grove restaraunt in wexford, pa. Poured a clear light copper color with medium foamy white head. Aroma is nice clean malts, with slight fruit and floral hops. Flavor very light and watery, nice creaminess to it, sweet, but light floral citrus hop notes without being bitter in any way shape or form. Very very clean crisp beer. Good for a hot summer day.

Aroma: floral, herbs. Appearance: golden, brown, clear, sparkling, frothy, white foam. Taste: medium sweetness, lightly bitter. Palate: light body, thin feel, lively. Overall: This is one of the best session beers Iíve ever tried, and in my opinion, it is better than most beers offered in the average bar. It is very drinkable. A light amount of bitterness is present, but this is outweighed by the malt character. This beer has the potential for mass appeal. Letís see if it ever makes its way into bars.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, malt syrup, cookie), trace hops (flowers, apricot), with light notes of diacetyl and DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Nose is unattractive...raw malt with some butter and cooked veggies underneath, only a whisper of hops. Ok flavor balance (ample bitterness) but not very clean and rather watery/bland. Not horrific, but a drain pour all the same.

Buffulo Billiards, DC (tap): This was the only beer that I never had at the bar. Looks like an ESB, when i saw it. Copper body with an off-whitish head. Aroma is of malts and mildest notes of hops. The beer itself is rather smooth. Really not that bad. Got some hop bitterness, along with a sort of sweetish burnt finish. A few bready and toffee notes in there as well. Not bad, but not really that good either.

Enjoyed from 12 oz bottle. Iím a fan of Newcastle Brown, so I figured Iíd give this a shot. Itís just average. Appearance is a clear/cloudy amber gold with not much head. Taste is crisp but somewhat flat as well, an unusual array of malt and a very faint backing of hops. Aroma is rather bland. Itís a good beer to consume when backyard barbecuing, otherwise not something Iíd drink again.

aroma is clean malted grain and its own fresh esters of peach. grassy as well. appearance is well polished just dark of blonde. flavor leans more towards balance of wet grains and subtle hop bitterness then esters but some survive.
