COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg & bottle. Mainly for export to USA. Available in the UK at Tesco Supermarkets in 2012.
"The Hoppings" - reputedly the largest traveling fair in Europe, takes place on Newcastle Town Moor every June. Several origins has been suggested for the name. It may derive from the word "Hoppen" an Old English word for dancing or funfair. It has even been suggested that people "hopped" about itching due to fleas caught from animals that travelled with the fair. However, we’d like to think it may relate to the quality hops used in the brewing of our famous beer. Enjoy Newcastle Summer Ale at the fair or wherever you are this summer.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2013 Bottled 08/02/13. An amber coloured beer with a white head. Pasteurized beyond the end of its life. Dry and ashy in the mouth. Very grainy. Really not good and actually superfluous. Score 2.0

Dobre i treściwe piwo z wielką pianą, która tworzy kręgi na szklanicy. Kolor jasno brązowo-złoty. Piwo na lato, nie jest słodkie lecz wytrawne w smaku, a także końcówka goryczkowa.

I know why I am drinking this summer ale in winter ... it cost just 50p from Home Bargains. That is probably all it’s worth to be honest. This is not offensive in any way, it’s just a little low on either flavour or character. Can’t describe it more than it’s both sweet and slightly bitter without much depth of taste at all.

Not entirely sure why I’m drinking a summer ale mid-winter...but anyways. Pour from a 12oz bottle, a dark orange/amber. Scent is a little lemony, reminds me of kitchen cleaner. Taste is malt and lemon, overall pretty thin and watery. The label says Hops and Glory, but this is neither hoppy nor glorious. Ugh.

A mid amber coloured beer with a thick white head. A slightly sour note at the beginning of the aroma, then a light malt aroma comes through. Fizzy mouthfeel. The taste starts well with a tangy citrusy hop flavour, but this soon fades into a mildly bland, biscuity malt flavour which itself drifts off in the finish, leaving a tart, synthetic lemon juice type taste in the mouth.

Nothing special. The nose is grassy with notes of hay. Golden with a white cap. Balanced with a little towards the sweet side. Crisp and clean finish.

Bottle. Gold body; medium white head. Sulphur, English hops, spice, a hint of red fruit, black malt, aromatic, minerals, dialactyl, dirty, wet cloth. Bittersweet. Dry finish. Watery palate. Similar to Badger Golden Champion or Pedigree. Brewed by accountants. Like a crap microbrew, or a mass market cask ale.
