COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg & bottle. Mainly for export to USA. Available in the UK at Tesco Supermarkets in 2012.
"The Hoppings" - reputedly the largest traveling fair in Europe, takes place on Newcastle Town Moor every June. Several origins has been suggested for the name. It may derive from the word "Hoppen" an Old English word for dancing or funfair. It has even been suggested that people "hopped" about itching due to fleas caught from animals that travelled with the fair. However, wed like to think it may relate to the quality hops used in the brewing of our famous beer. Enjoy Newcastle Summer Ale at the fair or wherever you are this summer.

Vaguely amber colour, but it isnt all that attractive. Bleached white head. Aroma us mostly overripe fruit. Taste is like neutered newkie, mineral water, and more overripe fruit. Not a fan, kind of a poor brand extension.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light amber with a creamy/frothy white head. Aroma is citrus and grass over pale malt. Med minus body. Flavor is wheaty with some citrus. Finishes a touch sour (probably the citrus) and lightly bitter. Lawnmower beer.

A: The pour is an innocent enough looking golden color with a mild, white head. Quite summery, indeed... S: Nothing says summer quite like the smell of...butter? Tons o diacetyl with a bit of sweet orange and sweet malt. T: Though I did not believe it to be possible, the flavor displays even more butter than the nose! Buttered popcorn with a side of butter and a mild sweetness as well. M: Light and somewhat spritzy. Perhaps a touch watery. D: This was bordering on awful. Ill simply classify it as really bad and suggest staying away from this beer.

Bottle @ home. Clear, orangish brian appearance with a pretty sizable off white head. Light, lemon citrusy, bready, bland pale malty aroma. Lemon citrusy, bready, fairly strong, bland pale malty flavor with a pretty bitter finish. For some reason, I thought this would be better.

From Taco Mac. Damn what the hell? Newcastle should not have done this. Bland and boring. Yellow pour, white head. Aroma is just flat and light...hops? Barely? Malt? weak. Flavor? Hmmm, just not good. Not at all. Very bummed.
