2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Decent but, definitely lacking. Caramel notes blended with earthy hops. Reddish brown with a fading head. Bitter in the earthy sense with a sweet side. Medium bodied quick bitter finish. Kind of off for the style.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Beer served to me at a restaurant. Light copper appearance to it didnít see too much "blood red"... cream colored head goes away quickly to leave a ring of bubbles. The aroma is, well, complex isnít the word, more like confused. Perhaps some berry sweetness, beady overtones, slight toasted notes. Weird. Slight spiciness on the flavor profile, more bread, cooked vegetables, synthetic sweetness, finishes slightly bitter, not cleanly. In sum ,this beer is quadruple garbage. Muddled and confused, poor hop profile, massive sweetness imbalance, strange brew indeed.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottled. Poured light-medium reddish-brown with a well-retained off-white head. The aroma picked up biscuity malts, sweet caramel, and lesser vegetal notes with grassy and grainy hops around. The flavor found more of the vegetal stuff plus some other bad malt, with lesser caramel and toffee in there too.. some funky tartness around, but not much bitterness.. quick finish with nothing good sticking around. Light-bodied with scratchy bitterness on the palate.. moderate-plus carbonation.. this was a bad beer.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a copper-amber with a minimal head. Aroma is light and dry. Flavor is light, dry, breaddy with a backhand of light hops. Not bad, but I probably wouldnít buy it again.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Red-brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is biscuit malt. Taste is watery, biscuit, metallic at the end. Glad I bought only one.

Smooth flavor and palate. Overtly sweet at the beginning, then just a little bitterness. Love the rye taste, but itís not nearly strong enough. Kind of bland all around for a red ale (though Iím still not certain exactly what I should be looking for in the flavor of a red ale).

It was definitely an interesting tasting beer, probably one of the better tasting new castle beers I have tried. I really liked the "blood red" color of the beer and the taste but I felt like it could have been a little more full flavored if that makes sense.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured into a wide flute glass. Dark red color with a solid finger of head.
Rich smell of wet grain and ripe dark fruit.
Watery taste overall; bitterness tries to come out but fails. Meh.
Crisp texture, medium body with moderate carbonation.
It wants to be bold and flavorful, but it just doesnít happen. But it doesnít taste bad, just not great.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Refrigerated clear amber with reddish hue and medium off-white head. Little lacing, medium body, little carbonation, and light herbal hop aroma. Taste is caramel malt and herbal hop finish. Not bad.

I would rate this much higher if it was strictly a draft rating. It is malty and has a great look, but lacking in pleasurable aroma. My first try was a bottle we acquired from the distributor, I did not care for it. We still picked up a keg for the bar and it is selling. I even have one from time to time, but the earthy aftertaste seems to conflict with the aroma... even on draft. I like it, but I donít...
