Copper pour and not blood red interestingly. Aroma has hint of sweetness and bread. Definitely sweeter and more bitter than regular newcastle. Its lime a lower sodium version of new castle.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Rich sweet aroma. Flavor heavily leans to roasted malt flavors. Not much fruitiness makes it through but some vanilla-like sweetness does. Nothing special.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled on 9/2/2011. This brown ale pours a medium copper reddish amber color form a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized off-white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet with a touch of rye spiciness. A light to medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. Hint of rye. The hops are earthy and floral. Decent carbonation. A little on the light/thin tasting side. Kind of like a Newcastle brown brewed with some rye malt added. This is one of those beers where you canít find many things to say about either good or bad. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Appearance: Pours a deep, ruby-brown body with excellent clarity and a tall, foaming, sand dollar-colored head.
Smell: Nutty, toasty malts with a soured rye accent, followed by berry skins, moistened cardboard, clothes one forgot to remove from the washer and place in the drier. Iím rather stymied here, folks.
Taste: Regular Newcastle with a bit more nutty, toasty, scantly roasty with an oddly harsh astringent quality hitting fairly fast. Curious dried berry taste lurking in there, as are some metallic offerings, some corrugated paper board. Slight bitterness, but then thereís that questionable fruitiness, a bit of table sugar on the tongue, then the crackly carbonation comes and rescrambles the mish-mash of dumpy tastes all over the tongue. Ick.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: Well, I wasnít expecting much at all, merely hoping for something drinkable, like the bland standard-issue Newcastle, but this is actually quite unpleasant. I didnít even finish it!
