COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Formidable Beast". What better way to toast the fall than to have a bottle of this formidable, dual character brew. At first smooth with mellow overtones of sweet berry fruit, a bite of bitterness suddenly cuts through, long, deep and lingering. Brewed with Rye Malt, it is naturally "blood red" in colour. Unlike the mythical wolf-like creature said to roam the bleak moorland surrounding Newcastle, this is real, so consider yourself warned!

Bottle. White head that lingers for a bit. Beautiful brow-red color. Balanced taste. Not too bitter, not too sweet. A great fall beer without the pumpkin!

Very nice bitter with stylish burnt tones from the malt and a long bitter aftertaste.

Earthy aroma and dark red in appearance. Starts with subtle berry notes ends with a bit of an earthy bite from the rye malt but not overpowering, different but good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drinking straight from the bottle, not to bad. Reminds me of a thicker heavier killians. Has a light caramel taste. Resignates on the pallate alright.

A beautiful head and a rich reddish-brown color (but NOT red) gives one hope that this will be great. However, it is just good. Would I have any reason to choose it over their original Brown Ale? No. Did I enjoy it? Yes.

Alright, I purchased this fine auburn-hued brew from a Krogers in the Cincinnati suburb of Mount Healthy, Ohio - I found Newcastle Werewolf to be a delightful example of a rye beer with some fruitiness balancing the brews strong body and hoppy finish. I like it!

12 oz. Darkish copper-brown with a lasting quarter inch of cream. Aroma of dark toasted bread, pecan, and touches of orange toffee and cocoa powder. Tastes of lightly tart berries, caramel apple, earthy cocoa powder, toasted rye, orange, and some woody pith. Medium body is sweetish on the front, but is well balanced by a pleasant astringency from the roasted malt, the peppery rye, and earthy hops. Interesting industrial brew; I like it much better than the regular brown.

This is my favorite of the seasonal Newcastles that I have had thus far. Although it drinks more like a dark lager than an Bitter. Pours a deep copper with a white head. Decent malt character on the nose. Palate has a nice malt presence with some hop character as well. Not too shabby.

Tap. Pours a clear amber body with a slight reddish hue, minimal fizzy off-white head. The nose is very dry and grainy with a slight note of lightly roasted coffee and some English hops. The flavor is dry toasted malt up front with a slightly husky graininess. Finishes with some lightly bitter hops and a little bit of burnt caramel. Light bodied with firm fizzy carbonation. Nice dry lingering finish. Pretty nice ESB.
