COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Formidable Beast". What better way to toast the fall than to have a bottle of this formidable, dual character brew. At first smooth with mellow overtones of sweet berry fruit, a bite of bitterness suddenly cuts through, long, deep and lingering. Brewed with Rye Malt, it is naturally "blood red" in colour. Unlike the mythical wolf-like creature said to roam the bleak moorland surrounding Newcastle, this is real, so consider yourself warned!

Medium-light bodied, some astringency. At colder temperatures, there’s a slight whiskey quality. Flavors mellow and fall somewhat flat as it warms.

Pours a brown red with a thin tan head. Aroma is sour berry with an earthy note. Taste is malty and sweet with a peppery roasted dark finish that does, in fact, come out of nowhere. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dyp brun med lettfarvet skum. Aroma av kanel, rosin, tranebær og kaffe. Fin frisk syre, lett bitterhet og sødme. Middels fylde. (Havnabakken, 22.09.13)

Pours a crystal clear amber with a slightly red hue, and a minimal offwhite head that fades quickly. The dominant aromas are red fruits and berries, and there’s a toffee-like aroma to it as well, while the finish gives way to more bitter aromas like cocoa powder and coffee. The rye also contributes to a spicy finish. The taste is fairly sweet, with a bitter-dry finish, but the finish is unfortunately quite short. The mouthfeel is creamy without feeling heavy, probably because of the carbonation. Overall this is a decent macro ale, and I’ll definitely have another.

Not that bitter and quite nice to drink. Somewhat thin and dark interesting looks it was.

A little bit milky in the aroma. Looks fine. This isn’t all that bad. Truthfully, though, it just doesn’t seem all that different from regular Newcastle, although perhaps a bit less sweet.

Pours nearly clear, red/amber/copper with tan head. Scent is slight chocolate over earth over burnt campfire coffee..... Taste is old metal, malt, slightly bitter woody nuts.. This is an odd duck in taste and aroma both. It’s rather unique. Not bad....different.

#300, whatup? 12oz bottle. Dark copper/brown aroma. Head fades off, no lacing. Nutty taste, as you’d expect, but a bit more "burnt". Not quite a true session beer, but a unique and "natural" fall seasonal, worth a try.
