COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Formidable Beast". What better way to toast the fall than to have a bottle of this formidable, dual character brew. At first smooth with mellow overtones of sweet berry fruit, a bite of bitterness suddenly cuts through, long, deep and lingering. Brewed with Rye Malt, it is naturally "blood red" in colour. Unlike the mythical wolf-like creature said to roam the bleak moorland surrounding Newcastle, this is real, so consider yourself warned!

Bottle. On first sip it had a bit of a boozy taste, which was kind of surprising considering how low on alcohol content it is. Afterward it mellowed, and really just tasted like a nasty red ale. Not a fan and canít recommend it, I mean if youíre stepping up from a Killianís or something then have at it, but this isnít a universally "good" beer. 4.5% abv.

Clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma is light roasted malt with hints of caramel, fruit and light hops. Flavor is like aroma with more sweetness..

Either this one has a quite peculiar aroma, or itís not a good idea to take a puff of Otrivin Mentol right before the tasting. In either case, what my confused nose detects are fermented grapes and white wine, sweet fruits, caramel and hints of berries in the back. In the glass itís nowhere near blood red as is claimed on the label, itís more of a medium amber colour (but itís still good-looking). The clear body is topped by a short-lived, off-white head that laces the glass well. The flavour is moderate and a bit less complex than the aroma: fruits, caramel and spicy hints. The taste is light to moderate sweet and light bitter. Fairly dry, light plus body and moderate carbonation. The initial sips felt a bit metallic, but Iíll blame that on the Otrivin.

Sample at MalmŲ beer and whiskey festival. Ridiculous, they should stick to making their brown beer.

Not that bitter and quite nice to drink. Somewhat thin and dark interesting looks it was.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, nutty brown with a smallish off-white head. Nutty, "tired" aroma. Light body, tons of crystal malt making a caramellish impression, again quite nutty with a distinct cardboard note. Ends dryish with no distinct hop impression. Verry so-so. 260314
