bought a single from HeB, i told them i’d finally get this bottle after refusing to break the sixer, i always win .. . . this beer smells like an old stinkin copper pipe .. . stale vegetables and brown underwear stain flavours, copper also .. . no body at all .. . light tan .. almost no foam at all .. . crumby beer .. . .
I’m sorry but there’s a handsome man in my spoon. You’ll have to come back later.

Bottle. Pure amber and serene, with lazy, slow carbonation rising to just a little haze of a head. Not much up-front aroma here, and indeed the beer drinks with a very mellow malty character. Certainly any American expecting something along the lines of an American IPA will be sorely disappointed. To our palate, this drinks like a mild ale, caramelled and nutty. (#4471, 2/7/2012)

Clear light golden with a fluffy white head. Grainy caramel aroma and taste with a bready finish. Where’s the hops?

[4087K-20111930] Bottle. Sweet floral toffee cream aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting bubbly white head. Toffee creamy flavour has a sweet aftertaste. Medium body. Not awful but not yet bad. (6/3/6/3/11) 2.9

Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Super Market - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, slight off-white head. Nutty aroma, hints of chocolate. Flavor has an interesting bread-like maltiness to it, some nuttiness, a brief citrus undertone, and some odd meaty notes. Surprisingly blends together well. Mouthfeel is thick enough.

Sample on 12/3/2011. This IPA pours a light gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is malty, caramel and fruity. A medium to light bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, touch of caramel. The hops are earthy and floral. A lighter bodied English Style IPA. It seems more like a ESB/Bitter than an IPA. Nice carbonation. Nice finish. Touch of bitterness at the finish. Not quite sure how or why its marketed as a winter beer, maybe the Winter in Jamaica or some where tropical this would be a good winter beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with a small, foamy tan head. Aroma is spicy hops, floral hops, tea leaves, soft fruit notes and soft herbal notes. Taste is fruit wrapped in tea leaves with a touch of toffee and soaked in a slurry of spicy hops and floral hops, and herbal hops. Body is medium with a soft, foamy carbonation with a light lingering bitterness. Finishes with more hop notes, herbal notes, light toffee, floral hops, fruit flavored tea and malt.

355ml dark bottle from Morrison. "Hoppy in the dark" is the claim on the neck label - though it’s the malt that makes more impact. This is a roasty premium bitter with moderate hop levels. It’s quite a tasty beer with some malty sweetness which is balanced more by the dark roasted malts than it is by the hops. There seems a sense of Heineken going for an ESB type beer, but somewhat sweeter, less hoppy, and more appealing to the masses. It quite appeals to me, but not in any significant way, and I’m a little put off by the small bottle.

Skyview (5150) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - OCT 30, 2011
Picked up single 12-oz bottle at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a clear dark penny copper colored brew with a quick dissipating off-white head that leaves behind minimal lacing and a thin white ring. Aroma of multi-grain and caramel malt, some grassy hops and a touch of biscuit. Taste is light to medium bodied, toasted caramel malt with some biscuit character and very light grassy hops. Finish is semi-dry with some vegetable notes, then a crisp and clean cut aftertaste with minimal bitterness. This beer style is closer to a light English Pale Ale than an IPA.
