UPDATED: JUN 21, 2007 Cask conditioned at the Raven, Bath 11/5/07. Near black in colour with long lasting tan head. Aroma was of roasted malt with hint of coffee. The mouthfeel was very smooth. Flavours were of sweet dark fruit with a dry finish. Easy drinking but not memorable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass. According to the website: "a vibrant Irish stout based upon original recipes developed within the heart of this Celtic island".
POurs a dark black colour with a white head that disappears quick but leaves traces.
Smells lovely and rich, dark and malty. Hints of coffee there too.
Tastes quite watery in texture, but good. Itís dry and sharp with a hop bitterness on the finish, but from the start to the middle itís balanced and smoothly malty.
Overall a lovely beer, odd to have in a 330ml bottle because it seems quite quaffable.

Bottle. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Dark brown colour with beige head. Somewhate bitter flavour with a hint of liquorice. The nice coffee and chocolate aroma unfortunately are downsized in the flavour.

A surprising amount of flavor for such a low alcohol percentage. Roasted flavors and good bitterness. Dark brown in color with a white head.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2012 (33 cl bottle @ Nyborg Strand; BBD: January 2013) Pours a clear, dark brown with little, white head that dissipates quickly and some lace. Served slightly too cold but was handwarmed gradually in the glass. Aroma is a relatively faint, roasted malt. Watery texture, light body with soft carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Flavour is a mildly roasted and slightly dry bitterness with a little malt for balance. Light and sessionable but probably better suited for a Welch autumn than a Danish spring.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
The label is nice and interesting but does not fit in relation to the beer. A wild bear that roars have nothing with so thin a stout. But maybe if it does not roar but burps, as this is a somewhat high carbonate beer. It smells a little of the basement and semi-wet newspapers, lightly toasted flavor but an ok summer stout.
