COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The '03 adds a new twist to the annual limited edition beer that we brew. The past three versions ('00, '01 and '02) all used ale yeast strains in their creation. This year, a lager yeast provides the next unique flavor in this series of strong beers. With this new yeast, we, again, selected an original combination of ingredients to round out the never-to-be-used-again recipe. Hints of roasted malt are balanced with the mildly floral bitterness of '03's three hops to produce our next one of a kind brew. In addition, the nearly full pound of malt that has been used to make each bottle of '03 is the key to it's complexity and tremendous strength. It is extremely limited, extremely strong and extremely original, because as we like to say around here: "It's All About Extremes!"

Bottle shared by Irishboy. Pour murky brown with no head. Aroma suggests sour mash with dark fruits and dark malt. Med body. No sour in the flavor. Flavor is lightly oxidized malt with darker fruit like raisin and dates. Tending to seem thinner with time. A beer that aged well. Very refined.

750mL bottle. Poured murky deep brown with just a few light bubbles for head. The aroma picked up sour notes and broken-down hops.. some sweet and nutty notes came on the second wave.. not terribly hot, but it was falling apart. The flavor opened sour and a touch metallic, with aged caramel, nutty notes, and vanilla following.. finished long, warm and tangy with broken-down malts and peppery character. Heavier-bodied with low carbonation.. more sour than it should’ve been, and definitely well past its prime.

Reddish brown pour no head left. Nice aroma malty and a little boozy touch of vinagar as this is pretty old. Well coated palate a little viscous. Very sweet syrups and sugars not much else there a light booze. OK.

750mL Bottle poured at the brewery tasting room for The "Odd" Years Vertical Tasting. Celery seed bomb aroma. Tanginess is the first noticeable characteristic of the beer. It really comes at me like a very, very old low-hop English Barleywine, that picks up that vinous acidity. Low on the carbonation and well oxidized. If you’re into 30-year old English b-wines, than this is for you. Dusty.

This poured a very murky darker brown color with no head at all. Aroma was lots and lots of malts, light cardboard, dark fruits and light smoke. Flavor was very sweet and malty, darker fruits and fairly oxidize but still somewhat tasty.

Pouring at the grand tasting at RBSG in Philly. Pours a hazed brown with a thin white head. Old chocolate and plums, chewy raisins. Weird. Chocolate and caramel fruit. Bananas and old oxidized fruit. Malt, more oxidization. Long sweet oxidized finish.
