COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For the sixth year we have faithfully produced the next edition in our impressive series of annual limited beers. Copious amounts of Pale, Chocolate, and Munich malts gives the mouthfeel to this brew. Additionally, twenty pounds of East African Cocoa combines with subtle raspberry flavors to accentuate the beer's creative backbone. Though not laden with hop bitterness, we chose the Perle hop's mild spice and sweetness to complement the chocolate in this ale. Unusual care and a year of aging, as well as hand corking and a never to be used again recipe give this beer a signature flavor which should only improve with time. It is extremely limited, extremely strong, and extremely original, because as we like to say around here "It's All About Extremes!" 11.7% Alcohol by Volume.

Bottled. An unclear dark amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, caramel, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, spices - cinnamon, cocoa, and wood, leading to a dry cocoa finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of tertons. Pours a clear orangey brown with a small, rough off-white head. Sweet, spicy nose. Solid body, low carbonation, very sweet, notes of sweet tobacco and fruit - berries. Still quite some hops in the finish. 140310

Bottle from Beerlando. Pours a reddish brown, light carbonation. Nose is cocoa, a bit fruity and tart in the nose. I’d say berries. On taste, it’s a bit acidic with a nice creamy cocoa. The alcohol is superbly hidden and the mouthfeel is luxurious. Nice toffee and raspberry notes as well. Clean and fresh for a 4 year old bottle. Excellent.

Bottle from alldaydrinker - thanks, Jeff! Man, I sat on this one too long, alas. Deep ruby pour which is - save one or two courageous bubbles - entirely flat. Soft fig and plum notes in the nose along with the faded malt profile of an over-the-hill barleywine. Mouthfeel is decent enough for the age, but it tastes pretty damn oxidized. Still some old ale flavors kicking around, but it’s certainly well past its prime.
