3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Courtesy SoLan. Pours a slightly cloudy orange amber with a light tan head. Smells of dark malts and caramel with a big noticeable alcohol presence. Big beer. The taste is much the same, although I found the taste to be smoother than I was expecting. Alot of the caramel and malts in the flavor. Nice little sweet finish, aftertaste was oily and delightful. Goof brew. Enjoyed it.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The final vertical treat from hellomynameis who brought in all the Newport Storm vintages 2003 through 2006 to the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting. This one was cracked open sometime around 1 am (I lost track of time after midnight). The 2006 Vintage pours a coppery amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head. Aroma of caramel, almond, some bourbon, a touch of apricots and roasted nuts. Taste is sweet and fruity, with flavors of pitted fruit, bourbon, and flowery hops. Texture is full bodied with a light toasted malt aftertaste, then a gritty alcoholic finish. Probably the highest alcohol burn of the whole bunch. Could use some more aging.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
More mellow and refined than the others I had. Lots of malty sweetness with some alcohol. Wasn’t all that great.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
03-06 all tasted like barleywines. 06 is easily the weakest of the lot. Hot burn from alcohol. Some sweetness from sugar and a touch of fruit, distilled spirits, and a thin body. Maybe it needs time, or maybe it isn’t very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
RBSG 2007. Pours to a coppery amber body with a bubbly head. The aroma is strong. Crisp plain malts and grainy silage. The flavor is crisp clean grains with a chocolate malt. Clean organic-like grains and granola. Clean crisp mouthfeel with a moderate texture.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with no head. No lacing, as there is almost no carbonation. Aroma is a sweet blend of caramel, malt, and fruit. Flavor....wow! This is a strong ale indeed. Caramel start and a nice malty and alcohol finish. Thanks Cottrell for this puppy! This is freaking awesome!
