COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For 2007 the brewers have selected a blend of 7 malts and 7 hops to create our unique annual limited release. When you decide to open this, you will notice a pitch black ale that pours with small brown head. The aroma is full of citrusy and floral notes, not only from the hops added from the boil but also the hops added after fermentation, the dry hop stage. Finally, one taste of this years beer and you will understand why it is so dark, roasted chocolately and malty flavors are abundant from the various dark malts that make up so much of the recipe. It is extremely limited, extremely strong and extremely original, because as we like to say around here "Its all about extremes!"

25 oz bottle, via tertons. Pours a dark brown, almost black body with virtually zero head save for a few large bubbles clinging to the edge of the glass. The nose is heavy burnt and roasted malt with some tar and licorice. Minimal hops noted for the supposed heavy handed hopping. The flavor is very old and oxidized, this doesn’t seem like a 2007 beer at all. It’s pretty thin too, not a whole lot of depth. Very sweet with minimal hops to balance it out. It almost has a Baltic Porter feel up front because of the licorice flavor. Finishes with chalky burnt malt and yeastiness. Mouthfeel is almost completely flat, giving it a watery texture. A little sticky risidual sugars on the finish with lots of alcohol warmth. Overall, this was just a big disappointment. I think that the very low fill-level of this bottle made some bad things happen.

Thanks to skyview for sharing. Hazy brown beer. Malty carob/chcolate nose. Sweet carob body with some oak. Very nice.

Seemed to be more like a barley wine than an imperial stout, but.......poured an opaque medium brown hue, no head/carbonation. Strong leather aroma with some cocoa powder notes. flavor was a mix of hops, alcohol, some oak notes, and cocoa. Light on the palate Decent brew.

Bottle courtesy of cmr1517.Very small tan head that quickly dissipated, no lacing, no carbonation observed, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Nose was chocolate, hoppy, sweet, and some raisins. Flavor was thin, chocolate, sweet, and some dark fruits. Tingly, thin and dry mouthfeel and medium in body.Lacked body, fullness given the style.Probaby not a beer that I would want again.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of frothy brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation dark black colored body. The aroma was roasted malt and dark malt. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of hops and roasted malt. A decent one but not one that I would consider drinking again.

Courtesy of Beerlando. A deep dark pour with very little head. Very raisiny aroma with a hint of chocolate. Flavor of chocolate malt and hints of coffee. Palate is solid but very little carbonation. A very nice drinker that is firm all the way down.

bottle from cmr1517 at the Fort Wayne tasting - Pours black with a thin tan head. Like the beer we had before it (Southern Tier Choklat), it’s a chocolate imbued imperial stout. It has plenty of roast malt and chocolate in the aroma. The flavor is also very chocolate rich. The body is kind of light for the style. Alcohol and some mild hops dryness comprise the finish. It’s quite good though not as the good as the superb beer we had before it.

Dark beer with some mahogany hues when held against the light. Almost no head. Nose is of vanilla and cocoa powder. Lots of chocolate, dark brown sugar, dark bread, and faint berries. Okay Impy.
