thedm (3406), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Mar 21, 2008 This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of frothy brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation dark black colored body. The aroma was roasted malt and dark malt. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of hops and roasted malt. A decent one but not one that I would consider drinking again.

10/01/2008: Newport Storm ’07 has an aroma similar to chocolate mixed mixed with red wine. There is also a fruity note similar to molasses. The color of this beer is similar to dark chocolate and is quite opaque. No foam was generated during the pour and there is very little, if any, carbonation. The flavor is strong and a slightly sweet with lots of caramelized malts, some semi-sweet chocolate, a medley of dark fruit and coffee, and a definite alcohol sensation through the nose. The finish is slightly more dry than the bulk of the flavor, but really helps to add some balance. The body of this beer is medium-full and is is still on the palate. It still has good mouthfeel and coats well. Overall this is a smooth and easy to drink Imperial Stout. I personally think that this one is somewhat underrated. It has a lot of really good flavors and I like that it is a little on the sweet side. I would have preferred some carbonation as I really think that it would have helped to intensify all of the flavors.

Odeed (1491), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 24, 2008 (thanks to irishboy for the bottle)dark brown with no head.aroma was boozy with some black liquorice, brown sugar, and molasses.flavor is much of the same.mouthfeel is thin and oxidized.this really tastes like its 6 or 7 years old instead of 1.maybe if they would have filled the bottle up the air inside wouldnt have killed it. IrishBoy (2163), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 24, 2008 Cobalt blue bomber from AllDayDrinker; If it was only carbonated! No pressure in the bottle, cork pushed right in; clear very dark brown with no head; nose of chocolate, vanilla, molasses, and alcohol; tates like it’s five years old and oxidized: kind of thin and watery; falvors are there, coffee, chocolate, molasses, and a bourbony alcohol note. Maybe the 4"+ of air in the top and no pressure ruined it. It has all the flavors but with less than a year on the bottle should seem five plus years old! hellbilly (906), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jul 22, 2008 bottles acquired from alldaydrinker... pours fairly opaque very dark brown with exactly 11 bubbles for a head which were vigorously roused up.... completely un-carbonated, damn! it smells pretty good though... chocolate-y, black raisins, molasses, malt powder, wood and floral yeast. tastes pretty good too... although a bit too sweet. flavors of wood, toasted nuts, yeast, vanilla cream, spicy bourbon-y oak, molasses and dark fruit/prunes. the aftertaste is of coffee with creamer. alcohol hits the stomach pretty hard. the body seems light to medium but it is hard to tell since it is totally dead and completely unappealing in the mouth. not sure if i can finish it... bummer.
i did a ’superdave70’ and simply funneled the rest ... kmeves (1010), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Jun 16, 2008 First thing I noticed is an abnormally large amount of space beneath the cork. Pours a dark oily black and very little head. Medium sweet aroma of molasses, brown sugar, caramel malt and dark chocolate. Flavor is sweet and there is a good deal of oxidation present as well as dark fruit and toffee. Finishes omewhat thin and bitter.
