COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
09 is a Belgian-inspired Ale. At 12% ABV it’s quite strong, and to go along with flavors imparted by the Belgian yeast strain, we put in copious amounts of hops to give it our own little spin. As usual, the carbonation is very light with this high gravity brew

750mL bottle. Poured clear ruby red with just about no head sticking around. The aroma picked up strong, syrupy dark fruits, molasses, and black pepper with heavy notes of oxidation and raw alcohol notes.. broken-down hops too.. came across as a big ol’ beer with little direction. The flavor found dark fruits, raisins, and molasses at the core with tacky alcohol-covered hay and spice paste on the edges.. figs led into a heavy, hard-to-swallow alcohol presence on the long finish.. not very enjoyable. Heavy-bodied with almost no noticeable carbonation.. boozy and rough.. I didn’t get what the description was going for, or anything else I wanted.

ChrisOs Kook Tasting. Hazy brown beer. Old malt nose. Light palate, low carbonation. A spritzy barleywine! Not bad.

750mL Bottle poured at the brewery tasting room for The "Odd" Years Vertical Tasting. Aged and oxidized fruit nose. Dusty. Super, super hot and boozy. Lots of heat in the nose and right up front on the palate. Belgian spice does show through midway, but it’s too late, my palate has been bludgeoned. Thin and tangy. Some slight astringency on the edges of the tongue. Hot and messy.

Bottled. A hazy red-brown beer with notes of over ripe fruit, malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit, caramel juice, alcohol, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy amber with a tiny off-white head. Sweet caramel and oxidized fruits in the nose, a little aroma hops too. Solid body, very low carbonation, lots of caramel, a little spiciness and quite some oxidization. Quite some heat in the finish. By no means a great beer, but not exactly bad either. 030511

Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of cookie and milk chocolate, moderate flowers and sour orange for the hops, dough and musty for the yeast, with heavy dried fruit notes like dates and raisins, wine, butterscotch and honey. Head is non-existing and the color is hazy orange-red-brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic the finishes moderately bittersweet and lightly acidic. Palate is medium, oily with a flat carbonation and finishes lightly astringent and alcoholic. A great mix of flavors and the aroma is deep and rich, but the next to zero carbonation surprised me a bit. Looking at the past ratings I’m thinking I got one of the few good bottles of this.
