COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first offering from the Coastal Extreme Brewing Company blends some of the world’s finest ingredients into a delightful beer. In producing our amber ale, we selected the highest quality European and American malts and hops. This ale has a malt character which is delicately balanced with its hop profile so that consumers of all levels enjoy drinking it. Hurricane Amber Ale is a full flavored beer which clearly has more taste than other domestic and imported light beers while at the same time does not overpower the drinker with heavy body or excessive bitterness. So find yourself a cold ’Hurricane’ and ENJOY! SPECS: 16 SRM, OG 1.046, FG 1.007, 5.2% abv, 24 IBUs. Malts: Pils, Munic, Crystal. Hops: Tettnanger, Magnum

A great introduction to craft beers. Started drinking this 4 or 5 years ago and although my tastes have changed, Hurricane Ale remains one of my favs. Smooth malt begining with nice hops.

12oz can. Looks amber. Aroma of caramel and toffee from the malts plus floral and almost citrusy hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. The perfect beer to welcome Sandy.

Draft at the source. Clear amber color, massive thick white head with great retention and solid lacing. Arona of peppery caramel. Taste is burnt toast, sweet caramel. Solid beer.

Easy to drink with a slight sweetness to it. In between a light and medium body with a lot of carbonation, lacks some of the flavor I had hoped for.

Medium sweet on the tongue. Nose is slightly stale malt. Middle tastes "young" (unfinished home brew?) Moderate hop finish, just OK.

A: Pours a copper color with a finger-width white head and decent lacing. S: Muted nose with mild caramel and bread notes, and perhaps some faint floral notes as well. T: Follows the nose with mild caramel and bread flavors and a faint nutty flavor shows up as well. M: Medium bodied with decent carbonation, and somewhat dry. O: Well balanced with lots of carbonation but seemed to lack in nose and taste somewhat. Serving type: on-tap

Draft at KJ’s and also at the Viking Hotel in Newport, R.I. Just average, with no outstanding offerings in taste or body. Apologies to anyone more local who thinks otherwise.
