COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Year round blueberry brew is a hybrid Kolsh style. Fermented at colder temperatures, but using our American Ale strain minimizes conflicting fruity esters. We feel that the addition of juice from real, hand pressed, Rhode Island Blueberries shouldn’t have to compete with the natural fruit background of the yeast. Pale Malt makes up the base of the grist bill, but this brew also calls for a large amount of malted wheat, an ingredient that lends a soft mouthfeel to the beer. Further there is enough caramalt to ensure a sweetness everyone will enjoy. Hops are chosen to compliment and balance the brew as it is bittered with a small amount of Magnum and flavored with English Pilgrim to lightly accent this truly unique Ale.

Pours a nice coppery yellow. Aroma is all fresh blueberries. Taste is light, just slightly sweet with a tart blueberry finish...pretty much no hop presence. This actually is just about all that you could ask of a fruit beer and definately not too sweet.

Aroma is strong blueberry. Flavor is light, perhaps a bit thin, with a berry taste that comes on fairly strong then thins out through the finish. Light, refreshing when cold, but not a standout at all.

bottle. amber with small head. aroma is wonderful. taste is bizarre. perhaps blueberries and beer aren’t the best pairing. definitely more interesting than good.

tap at Coastal Extreme - very fruity and caramel malts. Super sweet candy on the tongue. Pretty tasty but verges on cloying. Lightly grassy, lightly dry finish with a touch of hops, which helps cut the sweetness some.

Served on draft at the brewery, Pours a hazy amber color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of intense, tart blueberries with pale malts. The taste is sweet and tart blueberries with bready malts. Medium bodied. Nice.

Raft at the source. Clear golden color, thick white head. Aroma if - guess what - blueberries. Taste is bitter berries. Not sure that a lager-like beer works as the base for fruit beers.

Sampled at the 2012 American Craft Beer Festival. The blueberry is present but it’s not overpowering like a lot of fruit beers.

Thin overly perfumy blueberry taste that is overpowering. I like blueberries but not in a kolsh. Smells kind of nice but more for a shampoo or candle then a beer.

great fresh blueberry aromas. Really impressive until you taste it. It is way way way to much blueberry flavor. Ahhhhh!!! I was burping blueberries hours after drinking a 2 ounce sample.

12 oz bottle shared by pineypower, thanks Dean. Poured a honey amber body with a smaller foamy white head. Aroma of blueberry soda with a slight hint of mint, muffin and spice. Fizzy body with a watery mouthfeel and a dry finish. Flavor is grains and cereal with some blueberry and vanilla. Meh, it’s a frit beer, meh.
