COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2012, we changed the style of our summer offering from an IPA to an unfiltered Hefeweizen ale. Over 80% of the grains this brew are derived from malted wheat which lends an exceptional softness to the palate. Naturally underlying, but not overpowering, banana esters arise on the nose, providing an exceptional addition to enjoying this beer’s experience. We LOVE these flavors and they are brought out by the yeast, so we made a decision to leave this beer 100% unfiltered. Hence, there is a natural yeast sediment in the bottles that you can chose to decant off of or swirl up to be poured into your favorite tasting glass. Lastly what makes this beer truly unique is addition of hops after this beer’s fermentation: we have chosen the perfect combination to give a 100% natural citrusy lemon aroma and taste alleviating the “obligatory” orange wedge garnish. At 4.5% it is literally the PERFECT sunny day (or really any day) brew: Newport Storm Summer Hefeweizen!

A nice summer Hefe. Light citrus and banana...not a lot of clove present...more of an American Hefe rather than European style. Enough taste to enjoy but easy drinking enough to be a porch pounder during the summer.

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy orange color with a large rocky head. Good head retention. Aroma of wheat with herbal and spicy hops. The taste is the same. Fairly dry. Medium bodied with a lingering bitterness. Nice beer.

Six pack from Wines & More Mansfield. A light lemon brew with inch thick white head. Slightly fizzy. Slightly cloudy. Light citrus-spice aromas. Flavor is light and smooth. Some bread. Light citrus-pepper flavors. No banana at all. More peppery than clove. Finishes dry and slightly bitter. Refreshing though, even if it’s not in the same league as a good German version.

12 oz form a six pack. Paid 10.99 at Table and Vine. Fresh bottle, best by September. Clear gold with a good amount of retention. High, active carbonation. Lemon zest and yeast. nose. Light body. Flavors of orange, lemon and a bit of rind. Lively mouthfeel. Real thin borderline watery. Nice spice note in the finish. Not traditional, very American.  Ok summer, don’t have to run out and get more. However, much better then the weak Pyramid hefeweizen I just had.

12oz Bottle, purchased at Wakefield Liquors - Wakefield, RI. Tall cloudy pour with a nice big white head. Aroma is subdued, salty, and clean. Flavors are alright. I’m getting some distinct and noticeable styrofoam right up front, followed by very quiet hefeweizen characters, but almost so few that I would call it such. It feels like an American wheat that was fermented too hot. The body is thin and water. Mostly inoffensive and unexciting.
