COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2012, we changed the style of our summer offering from an IPA to an unfiltered Hefeweizen ale. Over 80% of the grains this brew are derived from malted wheat which lends an exceptional softness to the palate. Naturally underlying, but not overpowering, banana esters arise on the nose, providing an exceptional addition to enjoying this beer’s experience. We LOVE these flavors and they are brought out by the yeast, so we made a decision to leave this beer 100% unfiltered. Hence, there is a natural yeast sediment in the bottles that you can chose to decant off of or swirl up to be poured into your favorite tasting glass. Lastly what makes this beer truly unique is addition of hops after this beer’s fermentation: we have chosen the perfect combination to give a 100% natural citrusy lemon aroma and taste alleviating the “obligatory” orange wedge garnish. At 4.5% it is literally the PERFECT sunny day (or really any day) brew: Newport Storm Summer Hefeweizen!

Very fruity, yeasty and wheaty. Overly carbonated S well. I don't know who drinks this garbage. Smells like wheat and fruit. Yellow with a white head. Bleh

Mild lemon and clove aroma. Hazy yellow body with an exuberant pillow white head. Dry lemon taste with a mild bitter bite. Has a touch of lemon and breadiness but you have to pay attention to find it. It seemed to be missing a finishing touch. Good one for a warm sunny day.

On tap at the taproom. A hazy, golden beer with a small, white head. Citrusy hops, cloves and a hint of banana and wheat in the aroma. Refreshing and quite dry on the palate, medium to full bodied and with a nice carbonation level. Bitterness, citrus fruit, cloves and some wheat in the flavor. Unusual to have a beer like this with Cascade hops, not like the German weissbiers, but it’s nice. 150507

Bottle from Wegmans. Pours clear golden with a small white head that dissipates quickly leaving little surface presence and tons of bubbles rising. The aroma has more of the clove than banana but is pleasant. The taste has a nice balance of banana, spices, and a dry, crisp finish. Pretty refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow body under a one finger frothy white head that had decent retention. The nose is not your typical Hefe, it’s very fruity with a lemony twang, there’s some light yeastiness and wheat in here as well. The flavor is a little heavy on the lemon for my tastes, I prefer a straight up yeast-driven German Hefe. There’s a decent soft yeastiness to this though that’s quite pleasant. Fairly soft and well rounded on the palate, but with an annoying lemony smack on the finish. Meh, not up my alley as far as the style goes.
