Gpnterojd (132), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Feb 20, 2008 Pours an almost cloudy yellowy green -- at least, into a white plastic hotel cup. Pleasant, light appley aroma. Sweet apple flavour, less bitter than others I’ve tried. Lacks any skunkiness. Some alcohol (vodka-like) noticeable. Effervescent. Dry finish has a hint of bitterness.
jjpm74 (3155), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Nov 18, 2007 Bottle with a funky label picked up at the store a couple of months ago. 2006 vintage. Pours yellow/gold with some fizziness. Smells of tarte apples and on the crisp side. Some lemony hints also present. Tastes of apples and sweet with an decent underlying tartness. Finish is dry. Decent. Alldaydrinker (462), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Oct 7, 2007 750ML Botte Vintage 2007, From Newport Vineyards. Poured into a pint glass with a small fizzy dissapating head and crystal clear colour. Aroma of champagne and light apples. Initial taste is vinous and macintosh apples are again light and more of a champagne taste breaks through. I wouldnt call this your normal apple cidar. Slight dry in the finish. beerbill (1322), Laurel, New York, USA Jun 30, 2007 750 ml bottle purchased at Newport Vineyards. Now sold under the name Rhody Coyote Hard Apple Cider. Based on my discussion with the folks at Newport Vineyards, each year’s cider is slightly different. This is because the apples are purchased from local growers and the blend can vary from year to year. This bottle had a decidedly McIntosh aroma and flavor, which I enjoyed very much. Not at all sour or yeasty. Light in appearance and light on the tongue as well. Perhaps a touch dry, but also a bit of sweetenss too. I would imagine they have improved upon this since the last rating, which would explain the name change. Also, no longer sold in growlers - available in 750 ml bottles. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Feb 19, 2005 Wax-sealed growler purchased at Haxton’s in Warwick, RI. Has sour apple aroma with some funky weird old refridgerator freon notes. Transparent pear-green blonde color. Extremely pale even for a cider. No head. Sweet apple taste to start--mild at best. Middle is mildly sour and astringent with a mustiness. Bitter finish and mildly harsh. Quite dry. Not recommended.
