cazort (340), San Diego, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 (Bottle) I do not consider this to be beer, but I am rating it anyway, and as a note I enjoy this stuff more than a lot of the "bad" beers so I will rate it accordingly. Like most stuff labeled as "hard cider", this tastes a little more like apple juice than apple cider, but it tastes somewhat more like cider than just pure juice. It’s sweet but not too sweet...much more drinkable than the abhorrent "wine-cooler"-style drinks. This particular one had a bit more sourness to it. I would appreciate it if there was a more rich flavor though, and more bitterness...sometimes when I get cider at the store it has a little bite to it, and this stuff doesn’t have much of that bite. Also, why is this stuff so clear? Normal apple cider is cloudy...I think they’ve refined or purified this way too much. This also has various additives to it, including "natural flavors"...that’s a no-no in my book. I prefer woodchuck hard cider, by a little. I have not yet tried a really good hard cider.
dwyerpg (2032), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 25, 2008 Doesn’t smell that strongly of apples. I actually kind of liked this. Not too sweet or apply, it’s got a bit of juice flavor that stays for a long time. A very nice finish. Good stuff. EithCubes (1797), Indiana, USA Jul 13, 2008 Green-glassed bottle from Trader Joe’s. Cloying apple nose. Super-crisp pour leaves absolutely no head, an orangish clear body. Taste is cloying apple juice, well-hidden alcohol with a bit of apple skin showing in the end. Light body but not watery. Where did the carbo go? Much easier drinking than expected, the sugariness doesn’t get in the way of the enjoyment like in many other ciders. boFNjackson (502), Portland, Oregon, USA May 28, 2008 Bottle... Poured an apple juice tone with a thin head that disappeared immediately. Aroma is sour with some apples but it’s overshadowed by some chemical-like scents. Mellow palate, with flavors of honey and candy sugars with apples of course. Skyview (2768), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 26, 2008 Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits Wednesday evening beer tasting and shared by JK. From a 12-oz bottle pours a clear light golden apple cider with some light bubble ring on glass side. Aroma of sweet apple cider, a touch of brown sugar, some herbal spice and a touch of caramel, Taste is medium bodied, a good balance of tart and sweet apples with a hint of alcohol burn. Finish is semi-dry with a light spiced apple aftertaste that quickly disappears.
