matt7215 (500), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jul 19, 2008 on tap at al dente in brantford ON. severed in a niagara falls brewing 20oz glass. i can tell my beer sat at the bar waiting for delivery for a few minutes because the head had decreased to a white ring that sat atop a lovely golden body but my beer was a finger short. what do you expect from a wine bar. the aroma was hard to pick out. the brew was served very cold and at first a got nothing from it. after warming some bready lager malts came through. no hops to be found in the aroma. the flavour of this is the thing that sets it apart. great sweet wortiness. the breadiness is also there from the aroma and some hops come in at the end to balance it all out. better the i was expecting and i great find on tap at a wine bar. Like most others, I thought this lacked character or anything of interest. It was hard to rate aroma or flavour higher because there was so little there. I didn’t even like the look of it (that strange, soapy looking head). It did, however, have good mouth feel, JesseM (346), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada May 23, 2008 Updated: May 24, 2008341ml bottle from the beer store, and from a fresh 6-pack too! It’s a miracle! (my local is terrible for expired craft beer). Pours a nice slightly deep gold, with a medium sized white frothy head. Aroma is faint, ok malt character with some decent hop presence. Flavour is about 100 times better! MAN is this stuff good! Perfect malty character, very "olde style" pioneer like, which is something I love. Bready, worty, delicately balanced though with some very good hop presence, but the bitterness is very minor in comparison to the delicious malts. Moderate effervescence is a huge asset to this brew. Very well done, almost Munich Helles like, but enough new world touch to it to make it something distinctly Canadian (traditionally Canadian, that is). This is a cliche line, but this beer really is what Molson Canadian WISHES it was, actually it is literally what Molson’s marketing claims their beer is, the "true Canadian taste". Too bad I hate that slogan, but in regards to THIS beer it’s quite fitting and deserving. Similar to Gold Crown’s bready Germanic lagers, but different what with slightly more hop character. Really good stuff, I’m so glad I found it fresh. Bobsy (196), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 14, 2007 Updated: Jan 14, 20084oz sample from Olde Stone Brewing Company. Arrived with a golden body, and a nice white head. Lots of yeast and grain in the aroma. Crisp taste, with a nice level of hops, and a fruity maltiness to compliment the grains. Light body and average carbonation for the style. Very refreshing, and a nice surprise. robinvboyer (966), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jul 12, 2007 6 pack from the LCBO.
typical clear golden color.
Aroma is grainy, and bready, its making me hungry for some fresh bakery bread. Flavour, well.....imagine this, a pale lager with hops!? i can actually taste hops! wow.....nice fatertaste, one of the better pale lagers i’ve had.
