3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4286) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2011
Cask at Volo, "3rd Annual Ontario Cask IPA Challenge". Pours a very cloudy, murky orange with no head, almost looks like grapefruit juice. Aroma is citrusy, yeasty and a touch funky. Watery but nice flavour of citrus and tropical fruit with a light bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good.

3rd annual Ontario Cask IPA Challenge tasted blind. Ugly, muddy pour. The aroma is quite yeasty and phenolic. Autolyzed and acrid. A bit of citrus and mango bringing up the rear - light bodied and pretty poor really. Meh.

Draught at The Winking Judge in Hamilton. Pours an orangish colour, white head not much retention on it. Hoppy aroma with a little citrus. Taste is citrus and bitter. Decent stuff.

[2447-20090814] Tap. Mild latex paint aroma has a hint of fruit. Murky, light orange amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Bitter fruity malt flavour has hints of citrus and, oddly, chocolate. Medium-full body. Odd but good.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2011 2011-05-13. Murky dark amber body is essentially headless. 2+ Weird aroma, lemon and grapefruit, yeast, and some strange notes that I can not describe. 5+ Flavour is similarly odd, sort of lemony character, muddled, mild bitterness. Average plus palate is near flat. Odd. Presumably the cask was not ready, or not quite what was intended. Disappointing. 5+/2+/5+/3/11 Volo Cask IPA Challenge
2009-08-14. Murky orange amber body with a modest beige head. (3+) Flavour is mild, but pleasantly hoppy, modest orange citrus and light resin. (6+) Aroma is mild, pleasant hops, very light resin, mild leafy hops. (6+) Average plus palate is lightly carbonated. More pale ale than IPA in my opinion, just a bit more oomph all around might take it up a notch from good to excellent. Very quaffable, pleasant. My favourite of their beers so far. 7/3/7/3/14 - 3.4 On tap at the brewpub

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Best beer made by the brewer period. one is his hoppiest ever 60 IBU. A tad hop aroma, a cloudy golden with lasting white creamy head. A tad above average mouthfeel, very decent hop taste with citrus, and a bit dry finish. Nice.
