On tap at Niagara’s Best. Pours a very pale straw yellow with a thin white head. Looks like fizzy yellow beer so I’m hesitant. Big sweet caramel malt notes up front, almost a bit towards corn. Still a touch sweet and corn like, but crisp and nicely carbonated. Clean dry finish with some graininess. Probably one of my least favorites of the flight of ten, but done well for what it’s supposed to be.

Tap: This will probably be another unique Canadian style lager made by a micro brewer that is glossed over...so be it...I liked it. Its uniqueness comes from following the real Canadian lager style the commercial brewers lost 78years ago. The deep gold lager we see in the glass has a decent frothy white cap and a good lacing quality. Aroma : cereals, some husk some sweetness and musty hopping. Full bodied, rich, malty, from a 2 step mash, northern brewer hops balance perfectly, clean 2 dimensional but satisfying. Brewer nailed the traditional Canadian lager style on the nose. Don’t get no more Canadian than this....that is if anyone notices or cares about a unique Canadian lager style.

[2443-20090814] Tap. Mild grainy yeast aroma. Clear, dark yellow orange body with a quick creamy white head. More mild grainy yeast flavour. Medium body. A little rough, probably much like a logger.
(Called "Logger Lager" @ brewpub; Niagara Falls, ON)

14 IBU beer, sampled at the new brewpub in Niagara Falls . Medium golden yellow, lots of white foam, leaving lotsa white lace. Astringent taste with light mouthfeel. No aroma.

Draught sample at the brewery. Golden. Flavour has a nice grainy malt profile. Not a standout, but very fresh.

341mL bottle at the Kick Off in Waterloo, University Plaza. Man, I was really expecting more from this one. Usually I’m so willing to be nice to OCB buck-a-beers but this one was truly disappointing. It reminded me WAY too much of it’s attractive sister, the Blonde Ale from this brewer, but not in a good way. Creamy and weird, not at all like a lager should be, my bottle was also hazy (yes I drank straight from the bottle, neither I or the bartender felt it really deserved a glass), so who knows just how old my sample was. Really no redeaming lager qualities in it, no hops, no bread, no grain, just unnatural sweetness. What a shame. At least I only paid $2.50 for it!

Draught, as Logger Lager, at the winking Judge- Pale straw and pours a fluffy white head with nice lace left behind. Nose is chalk full of lemons and hay with good biscuit and some sweet grain. Slightly sweet grain and pale malts make up the flavour profile, there is also a bit of biscuit and slight bittering hops towards the finish. Above average Canadian pale lager.
