COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: First batches of this beer were brewed at Bryggen, Thisted.

English: This dark ale is a fusion between a Scottish ale and an English stout. And to underline the international touch it is brewed with American hops. Styrbord Stout contains to types of roasted malt, which, besides the color, give the beer notes of coffee and chocolate. A little smoked malt was added, which makes this beer go well with smoked and grilled foods. The American Amarillo hops together with the English First Gold hops add notes of citrus and peaches. It is a mild and easy to drink beer, which has no problem being enjoyed on its own, in spite of the rather high alcohol percentage and the dark malts.

Bottle. Pours hazy coffee brown with airy beige head. Rather inconspicous aroma of roast, malt and oats. Bitter, roasty flavour with sweet notes of lactose and caramel malt and touches of hops and yeast. Hints of coffee. Estery and sourish afteraste. Okay, drinkable, but nothing really special.

Bottle, now at 5.5%, pours deep dark brown with a fast-settling beige head and aromas of smoke, a little red fruit and maybe a little demerara and coffee. Big smoky and dry-sweet mouthfeel, with notes of dark cocoa and a little toffee and liquorice. The roasty malt, the smoke and the firm earthy and fruity hops worlk well together. Roasty dry-bitter finish. Lovely.

Very dark brown. Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, some fruity hops and licorice. Taste: The coffee notes really shine through. A much more roasty quality than I would have expected from the aroma. Touches of licorice, still some hoppy notes, but not a lot of chocolate to be found. Smooth palate, dry roasty finish. It’s a little heavy compared to what I expected, but overall it’s a very solid stout.

50 cl. Flaske. 6%. Super dejligt bekendtskab
