3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 humulushound (242) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 19, 2009
Rich brown, turbid with a dirty crown. Smell is complex: herbal, vinous, hazelnuts, caramelized dark fruits, curacao liqueur. Flavor is sweet, salty, nutty with fruity esters, vanilla and orange. Body is medium, slightly oily, with an astringent finish. This ale had great character but lacked depth.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 WisconsinBeer (659) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - DEC 13, 2009
Bottle. Pours a very hazy brown color, almost no light coming through. Medium head with a decent amount of lacing. Roasted sweet malts, slightly bready and yeasty with hints of ripe fruits and banana bread. Has that really nice Belgian profile that so many other beers try to duplicate. Alcohol is well hidden, and only appears very slightly in the finish. This is good, I could drink this all the time!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Tripplebrew (714) - Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA - DEC 13, 2009
Pours a dark chocolate amber, not hazy with a thick dirt-colored head. Aroma is very clean, notes of nuts (almond and hazelnut), some vanilla and hints of caramel/candi sugar. Flavor is very nutty with earthy notes mixed with raisin and vanilla. Definite notes of candi sugar however it is more of an accent than taking over the flavor. subtle notes of orange zest. Body is creamy yet mixed with high carbonation. A very great, well-balanced winter ale.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Linnet (418) - Umeå, SWEDEN - DEC 8, 2009
Ruby colour, dirty tan head, lacing.
Aroma is sweet and malty with a nice dept to it, raisins, honey, jam, oranges? and marmalade.
Flavour is full of dark fruit and again oranges? ABV is dangerously well hidden and with a nice but weak bitterness at the end.
Mouthfeel is average.
This is good but not exceptional.
