Nightfall (1231) - Hamburg, GERMANY - DEC 28, 2011
Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering, Ulfborg 2011. 2008 Bottle from Thomas. Deep chestnut color with no head. Sweet malty aroma and taste. Raisins, ripe fruit, caramel, plum, spices, a little alcohol (seems the age has mellowed this a lot). Very enjoyable, would love to drink this on a cold Xmas night.

750 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on December 23. Pours amber with a frothy gray head that clings to the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet with dried fruits, alcohol, wood and spices. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with figs, dates, pencil shavings, liquorice, cloves, ginger and orange zest. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter.

LookMomNoHands (429) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 26, 2011
0,75 l. bottle, shared. Very dark brown colour with ruby hues, and a thick, beige head. Aroma is very strong with lots of yeast notes: Bread and dark fruits, raisins. The taste is very fruity and sweet: Lots of plum, raisin, prunes, and other fruits and berries. Slightly bready with a sweet caramel finish. Lively carbonated, full body. This is an excellent beer.

Dark ruby color with small particles. Thick head with good lace. Huge dark complex nose. Malt, plum, and sugars. The alcohol adds a nice warming touch. Deep, complex taste: chocolate, plums, and raisins. This is worth a look.

75 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK via The Devonshire Cat takeaway. Dark brown, brown sugar and clove aroma. Sweet, very little alcohol on the palate for the strength, more brown sugar on the finish. Slightly too sweet but perhaps necessary to mask the strength.

Miksu (3887) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - DEC 25, 2011
0.75 l bottle from Alko. Reddish brown color. Aromas of raisiny caramel, tart fruitiness, cherry and restrained clove. Raisiny, toffeish and warming flavor with some clove and pepper. There is initially some caramelly sweetness but alcohol makes the finish fairly dry and bitter (alcohol, not hops). Highly carbonated. Drinkable but for 10 % abv I would like to have something more special.

Faint smell of fruit. Bronze colour with huge beige head which diminishes quickly. Very fresh, especially considering the 10 %. Syrupy palate. Herbs. Some tar and licorice. Medium bitterness. Gets a lot better with temperature.
