3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A dark winter brew tasting of caramel, molasses & yeast. Lacking the depth of character of the strong Trappist brews but N’Ice enough. On draught from The Belgique Cafe, Amsterdam.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared a 75cl bottle from Such an (Luxembourg). Pours a clear mid brown colour with a small, but nice, tan head. Aroma is malt, light toffee, caramel and a bit alcohol. Medium carbonation and medium to thick body. Flavour starts bitter with some sweet notes and with a dry end. Overall, a very nice beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hard to judge the aroma as I was in a smoky bar, which may have effected the entire rating. I did enjoy the beer immensely. Flavor was all dark strong - dark fruit with some caramel, head retention was ridiculously long, and the carbonation was perfect!

Location: 750 ml bottle from State Line, 11/14/13, Best before End 2014
Aroma: The nose is sweet, full of dark fruit/raisin, caramel, and toffee, with some candied sugar
Appearance: It pours a murky reddish-brown color with a frothy off-white head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, heavy sweet, with lots of dark fruit and toffee/caramel
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has some stickiness, and a smooth, creamy finish
This is a pretty tasty beer overall. There’s a lot going on here, and it is pretty sweet, but it steers clear of getting cloying. You may not guess this one is 10%, as it has no burn what-so-ever. Anyway, this beer works nicely on a cold winter day like today.

This winter ale has little aroma but has a sharp brown appearance and ever better flavor. With a sweat and malty taste to the tongue it doesn’t linger long but leaves you coming back sip after sip. Enjoy!
