A classic winter warmer... Love the Belgian characteristics with the light balance and flavor of thyme and bitter Curacao peel... Overall pound for pound it doesn’t get much better than this.

Bottle thanks to s_hartshorne as a Christmas present, cheers Shane. Dark brown beer with small head that reduces to a oily wisp and perfect ring around the rim. Aroma of dark fruits, molasses and some light spice. Taste is prune juice, some spice, dark toffee and some booze warmth. Easy drinking Christmas sipper with a hit of abv. Very good.

Rated pe 25.12.2015.

.75 bottle. Dark brown, frothy head. Nice, even wonderful, malty, spicy clovy, perhaps some cinnamon, smooth bit dark dry chocolately nose. Med full bodied, silky velvety soft breadyness, soft spices. Some muscot. Really nice, abv totally hidden. A smooth slight spicy ale. Nit a big fan of xmas- like spiced ales, but the execution in this is just so nice..

Dit donker bier heeft veel smaak, maar houdt de zoete bitterheid lang vast. Eentje om te drinken als je tijd hebt.

Cola black, beige head. Very mild aroma of malts and yeast. A hint of sweetness, liquorice, even rye, roastiness, syrup. Very well balanced tastewise. Sweet yet dry. Goes well with ham.

Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours reddish dark brown with a medium-sized head with quite good retention; small layer of foam stays on top. The aroma contains sweet caramel maltiness and dark, plummy fruitiness with a touch of anise and yeast. Taste is medium sweet, displaying malty, spicy and fruity notes; raisin, caramel, fig and plum appear. Initially the emphasis is on sweet maltiness, later more on spiciness, especially anise; hoppiness stays low from start to finish. Alcohol looms as a warming presence in the background but does not affect the taste. The palate is medium to full bodied, fairly smooth and low in carbonation. Solid malty and spicy strong Belgian all in all.

Cheers!

Dark brown. Tasted at 15 degrees celsius. Aroma of chocolate and cherries. Taste is sweet cherries combined with malty chocolate and dried fruits. Some bitterness in the finish. Alcoholic warming aftertaste like liquor. Good and strong winterbeer.
