Terrific brown ale in the strong style. The extra spices do make a bit of difference in the resulting flavor, but it’s a pretty straightforward brown/strong ale. Probably better after aging a bit, although there’s no cork in the bottle so I was wary of extended aging. I liked it better the first time; the second time it was a bit more alcoholic tasting, but in a bad way (I tried it on different days).

Aug 23, 2008 2006 Limited edition 750 shared with my girlfriend Cyn. Pours mahongany with a tan head. Nose is sweet and fruity. Taste is big bold with a lot of bite. a Pretty tasty beer.

Aug 22, 2008 Not much in te aroma, just a little spicy. This is a nice Belgian strong. The alcohol is noticeable but not bad. I can’t say that I notice the orange peel or the thyme. Mostly just a solid dark Belgian strong.

Aug 10, 2008 Bottle 0,75l. Dark amber brown colored. A shortlived creamy head. Sweet fruity aroma. Complex flavor of fruit, caramel and malt. Carbonated. Sourish bitter aftertaste. A lasting dry finish. Alcohol hidden, but shines through by it’s warming effect.

Aug 10, 2008 75cl bottle from 2006. Pours out like a Coke: see-through brown and fizzy carbonation with a quick reducing head. Not a real big aroma but a little fruit and sugar. Surprisingily light flavour and "thinish" mouthfeel. Sweet flavour with candied fruit and a nice spicy finish. Good but nothing amazing.

Aug 10, 2008 Bouteille verte de 750 ml obtenue via Importations Privées Bièropholie. Arôme: Odeur de caramel et de prune avec une pointe de clou de Girofle. Apparence: La couleur est cuivrée avec une faible densité de bulle. Présence d’un mince col beige crémeux avec une large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel et de petits fruits foncés avec une pointe d’alcool. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture crémeuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence d’alcool en arrière goût. (Rating #1876)
