3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Aroma is fruity - raisins, figs, prunes. Also hints of orange and spice. Pours a translucent brown with ruby highlights, a mostly dinimishing tan head and sticky lacing. The taste is overall mildly sweet. The flavor is similar to the nose. Raisins, dark fruit, bananas, candy sugar, hints of spice and a peppery, dry finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, the taste, while good, is quick with a dry finish. Not exactly what I expect in a Belgian strong ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark brown/ampber colour. Has a smaller head but it sticks around. Aroma is alcoholic but mainly sweet and caramel with some herbs. Taste and body is full, sweet, more caramel and herbs. Aftertaste is grassy and dryer. A well balanced, tasty strong ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Chilled bottle BB 2016. Pours murky dark red with a decent white head that endures. Smell - malty, toned down coffee and vegetable, yeast. Body is very foamy, carbonation medium. Hard to judge the body because it’s so foamy. Taste - malty, merlot, alcohol comes through a bit. Not very exciting, this one. But it’s OK - not offensive.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Hobbit time soon. Poured a reddish brown color with nice full head. Good aroma of cherries, raisin, candy, Belgium yeast. Medium light sweetness with just enough warming alcohol to balance the sweetness. Average carbonation. Good mouthfeel. A great Belgium winter beer.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured from a bottle. Light brown color, white frothy head with nice lacing. Slight sweet malt aroma with a hint of musk. Spice and sweet malt flavor go with the medium body but dissipate way to fast leaving a tasteless finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown beer with some red in it. Has a nice beige foamy head and some saturation.
Smells sweet, malty and a little bit spicy. Also has a small hint of sulphur.
Tastes bitter and spicy.
Leaves a fine palate.
An ideal beer to enjoy during cold winter days imo.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nose is belgian yeast, bread, spice, cloves, pepper, dust slight orange. Taste is slight dark fruits, leading to malt, to well balanced cloves, spice and orange with a very strong pear and bread finish. Mouthfeel is suitable but the alcohol is a little to prominent for me.
A lovely example of the style, though the alcohol is a bit too powerful in the finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at the Paters Vaetje, Antwerp. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a thin white head and loads of broken lace. The aroma is yeast and rich red berry fruit. The flavour is medium sweet, weak bitter with an alcohol liqourice bitter fruit yeast palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Well balanced considering the ABV. Nice for Christmas!
