Bottle. Large beige head. Dark amber body. Malty nose. taste is alot of sugar and alcohol, sweet, candi sugar, metal, tannins, with a huge tannic bitterness on the back end. Hints of orange, black pepper, and anise. I really don’t know what else to say about this one. It is alittle too sweet and very complex.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Defreni (1781) - Husum, DENMARK - NOV 24, 2007
Fad.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2008 Re-rate: Bottled. Deep brown coloured. Malty and spicy aroma with fruity notes, pretty good. Malty flavour, quite a mouth full, alcoholic, but really nice. Long lasting finish. Very nice brew. I wonder if the recipe changed or if i did, but i like it a lot more than before.

2006- Pours dark brownish amber w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Aroma of dark belgian rock candy. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers creates a soft creamy texture. Sweet yet refined and balanced. Flavors of dried fruit rollup w/ spices. Cherry, plumb, cocoa, melon, moscato grapes, bubblegum dust, bark, molases, The finish is finely bittered just enough to allow the moderate sweetness to linger. Not cloying. No medicine or cherry caughdrop. Very pleasant. Highly recommended.
